Total Imersion Fluid Cooling

I've seen some talk about this and it typically involves some kind of ridiculously expensive medium.

Has anybody tried just using Dot5 brake fluid?

It's silicon.

It's never occurred to me to check for conductivity, but I have a bottle on the shelf I use in my bike.
I'll just stick a couple of probes in there and check the ohms

I followed that link and I did see that the stuff they are using requires purchasing $1,000 worht of fluid.

Dot 5 brake fluid is practically free compared to that.

Clarification:

It never occured to me to physically check the conductivity of silicone fluid for conductivity any more than it would have occured to me to check to see if water was wet.

It's silicone. It's inert.

It has a boiling point of around 700 degrees farenheight.
It won't absorb water. It inhibits corrosion.

Intellectual curiousity overwhelmed me after the question was asked so I did check it for conductivity and confirmed what I already knew.

The best part is that it is less than $15/qt.
