Sony reboot Total Recall started its run in second place with $26 million, only a touch higher than 1990′s Total Recall, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and opened with $25.5 million. If we adjust for inflation, the 1990 version, which ultimately grossed $119.4 million, opened to the equivalent of about $45 million and earned about $215 million in today’s dollars. Sony says it spent $125 million on the reboot (some reports suggest the budget reached $200 million), but with poor reviews and a weak “C+” CinemaScore, the film will almost certainly not recoup its budget (or its marketing costs) domestically.

Yeah I dont know what the fuck they were thinking. Total Recall only did well the fist time because of Arnold. Remaking the movie with someone that has 1/10th or even less the star power(compared to Arnolds peak) was foolish. Thier only hope to come close to breaking even is if it does well over seas, which it might given overseas loves sci-fi movies.

I saw the trailer in the theatre while watching TDKR. The sheer heaviness of the CGI already turned me off.

I have seen it and in many ways is it similar to the old but with the latest technology. I think the action is jam packed in it through-out the movie. That's a good thing and bad thing because only at the end/climax does the action get ridiculous. Other than that, it's a great remake.

The people that saw it at Comic-Con said it was actually good, which gives me some hope. The only problem is that you'd imagine that the people that want to see it at Comic-Con are those that probably want it to be good.

I don't know, Armand Assante was a decent villain, Sandra Bullock was cute, Stallone was at least not dull. "I YAM THE LAW!"

If the new one is just CGI and explosions, it could easily be bland and boring instead of cheesy fun.

I think you are blending together two different Stallone movies. Bullock wasn't in Judge Dredd. And Demolition Man was cheesy fun but Judge Dredd was just terrible.

The only remake coming out this year/next year that looks decent is RoboCop.
