I can fully second this rant. I have a client that loves to call me multiple times per day, and calls right after she sends an e-mail to me about some issue she's having. Her project is over-hours because she's "a visual person" and can't make a decision until she sees it. And she is brain-dead and takes 1 minute to say one thing that could be said in 10 seconds, so any phone conversation lasts at least 10 minutes, so I stopped answering the phone when she calls--but then I just get a 90 second voicemail of her telling me to call her,

and she starts it off with "HI I JUST WANTED TO TOUCH BASE WITH YOU ON ______________" BALHGAHG!!

OMFG... I do too.

The moment I heard it, it got on my nerves.

"I'll touch base with you in the morning."
"We'll touch base later."
"Touch my base." ok..maybe not this.

And it's usually older (35+) people who say it. Are they trying to be hip or is it something from the 70s?

... and how about military jargon invading the workplace?

It was bad enough to hear news agencies discussing ad nauseum how they had people "on the ground", in Iraq.

For the last 3 months, our bi-weekly Dilbert meetings have involved our boss discussing how we have people "on the ground in core territories to handoff deliverables and effectuate strategic planning action items".

The fact that I haven't gone postal yet has me questioning my sanity.
