How do you put a prepaid sim into a CDMA phone?

Its both. You can put the phone into GSM mode. Right now the phone has a sprint sim card in it.

I ditched my Storm for the Verizon TP2 and love it, and the FM tuner does work all you have to do is get the cab from xda or ppcgeeks, you just have to use headphones for the attenna without them plugged in the fm radio will not run. Bad thing is no one has cases made for this yet, you can get some knock offs on ebay but that is about it. Even the verizon stores do not have any cases yet cause they do not even have the phone in store yet as of yesterday.

EDIT: I have the Verizon TP2 so I know the FM Radio works without an issue I wouldnt have said it unless I knew it first hand.

To the best of my knowledge - Sprint quadband 'world phones' operate on 900/1800mhz GSM - which is used internationally. T-Mobile uses 1900MHz for edge, and 1700/2100mhz for HSDPA.

So, no. Why would you do that anyway?

i have sprint now. but will loose free services after quitting for another company. i can keep the phone but off course need a carrier. pre-paid sim cards are prolly the cheapest to go since i dont make phone calls that much

This is not entirely correct. The cab file you referenced enables the FM tuner on the GSM version of the phone - not the CDMA. Nobody has been able to get the FM tuner working on the Sprint or Verizon phones yet. There's an interesting discussion on the topic here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86213

There's still a question of whether the hardware for the FM tuner is even present on the chip within the CDMA version of the phone. I suspect that once there is an unlocker for the CDMA version we will get to the bottom of this and either have a hack for it or determine for sure whether it can be enabled.

This is what I don't get. The phone is a world phone. That is, it has both CDMA and GSM chips in it. How can there be both a CDMA and a GSM version? Isn't there just one version that has both?

If I buy a GSM TP2 for, say, AT&T, can't I just use it on Sprint since it already has a CDMA chip in it?

Basically, the TP2 that you get from CDMA companies like Sprint and Verizon have their GSM locked for domestic GSM service providers. If you try to insert an AT&T sim into it, it will say no service or whatever. But you take it overseas and it should work on overseas GSM networks.

Well i broke down this weekend and ordered the TP2 at the sprint store. They wont be getting any in the store to demo though which sucks. Its internet or store order only. Hopefully i like it since ive not had my hands on it. If not 30 days ill return it. Love my SERO.

They make different versions of the phone that has different radios. "World phone" does not meant works EVERYWHERE in the world. As I pointed out above,

The Sprint version of the phone does not do the same bands as T-Mobile. 'GSM' does not specifically refer to which bands are picked up. And to make this further confusing, while AT&T and T-Mobile use the same GSM/EDGE bands, they use different 3G bands, so an unlocked GSM phone here may only do 3G on one of them.

The Sprint model works on 850/900/1800/1900

First my keyboard light and backlight would just never turn off. Second the keyboard just didn't work. And now the portrait / landscape orientation switch doesn't work and it's locked on landscape no matter if the keyboard is in or out.

I love the hardware keyboards, but I can't stand how fragile it makes my Touch Pro. It seems like even a small 1 foot drop is enough to seriously tweak something up.

dude, do you have any tech that doesn't break on ya

Have any of you gone from a Blackberry (Curve or 8830:WE) to one of these? Looks like a good device but I've grown accustomed to the BB!

I had a Curve 8330 and 8900 for a bit. I admit Blackberries are nice once you get used to them but I still prefer any Android or WebOS phone. Its so much easier to get tons of free apps and do all kinds of cool shit that BB's will probably not do for a long time.

I was seriously thinking about getting a touch pro 2, but I think I'm going to hold out until Sprint hopefully gets the Imagio. Now that is the perfect phone for me.

There's something fishy going on with Sprint. Several members of the PPCGeeks forum claim to have gotten their accounts credited for the difference in price of the phone with Verizon. I called today and spoke with retentions and they would not do it for me. They claimed it was only for corporate or government employees whose phones are subsidized by their employer. I pointed out that I already have a corporate discount applied to my account and that I'm a premium customer. They wouldn't budge and transferred me to the supervisor and I got his email. Still no call back.

Others are reporting similar experiences and the stories given by the Sprint reps changes by the minute.

The Imagio is going to be a hot phone. I had a Diamond for a year. My main complaints with that were the small screen (2.8") and the keyboard was very difficult to use on that screen.

The Imagio will have the same screen as my TP2 and the on-screen keyboard is very usable.

Well, I called back Sprint tonight. First I went to their online chat. The rep I spoke with told me that I would have to contact the point of sale, in my case telesales and that "They will be happy to give you the credit for the price difference."

I proceeded to call Telesales and the rep said that she'd have to check with a supervisor. She did and then told me that Sprint DOES NOT PRICE MATCH PERIOD. I told her that would leave me no choice but to send back my phone (still within 30 day return period), pay the $75 to cancel my contract, Sign up with Verizon getting the phone at $199.99 and still come out ahead. She then transferred me to Retentions. The guy put me on hold for 10 minutes to review my case notes. Then he came back on the line and told me that they would credit my account for $150 and that I'd see it in 72 hours.

This is really cool of Sprint to do that. What isn't cool is making their customers jump through hoops.

I find that to be the case though with not just Sprint, but many companies. I've had to threaten to cancel with Sprint, Comcast, XM radio, etc., to get things corrected.
