I have been using a Note with the TW JB rom, and it is pretty good and looks great. Sure there are some bloat but overall I think these new spins on Android are nice. I think a lot of people just bandwagon hate simliar to Vista/Win8 etc bashing. Who else likes Tw/Sense etc?

I don't. I like stock Android best, and not even just for the quick updates. It's clean, not bloated (and I'm not talking about the bundled apps), and performs well even on mediocre hardware.

My order of preference/tolerance from best to worst:

Stock
TouchWiz
Blur
Sense

I think of like when you buy a laptop and it has all that pre-installed junk on it. Format and install OEM Windows 7.
Just knowing all that bloat is on the phone sucking battery is the reason I'll only ever have a Nexus phone if I stay with Android.

I'd go with Stock, Blur, Touchwiz, Sense.

I don't have any hands on time with LG or Sony to make a decision on those.

Were you previously on ios? I have a friend that is the same way. Loves the size of the note, but as a former ios user, i think TW is more familair to him. I have tried to convert him to stock android, but he wont even leave his TWlauncher.

In its defense, its the least offensive of all the skins, but its just unnecessary. Sense is pretty bad, and i havent tried Motorola's crap in a while, but that used to be the worst. Even more annoying than those, is the crap that vzw and att put on there to "back up" your contacts. No fucking reason for it!!!!! Theres nothing worse than having contacts all over the goddam place. (sim. phone, vzw, google, etc. They should just be in google!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) If google has to put its foot down its there. I really hope people dont pay for this "service".

Have you tried just using stock? Im sure at first you might be more comfortable with TW, but after using it for a while, im guessing you wont be able to go back.

Bandwagon hate? WTF? The OS just feels bloated. If that was the only option on Android I would have just gotten an iPhone 5.

Same goes for many other skins. In fact those skins made me swear off anything non-stock... until people pointed me in the direction of Motorola. The one on the 2012 Razr HD/Maxx HD is near stock, and the few modifications to the OS are something I actually like.

As I've since said in another thread, it's OK to modify Android... unless you're companies like LG or Samsung. (I haven't tried the HTC One X yet, but I hear it's even worse.)

However, I'm coming from stock Android in the first place, so stuff like TouchWiz seems like an abomination.

So yeah: Stock & Blur >>> Touchwiz > whatever LG's is called.

i havent tried Motorola's crap in a while, but that used to be the worst.
Google owns Motorola now. You should check out Motorola's UI for their 2012 phones.

In fact, we probably shouldn't even be calling it Motoblur, because Motorola doesn't use that branding at all anymore. They just call it Android, and they're at 4.1 Jelly Bean.

I actually prefer Touchwiz over everything including stock. But I absolutely hate the slow update cycle and carrier bloat so that's why I prefer Nexus device.

I think the best part of the Samsung phones (which partially relates to TouchWiz) is the physical home button.

I just don't like the rest of the OS so much. I also have no use for swype, but I see that stock Android now has something similar too.

IMO Touchwiz is actually better than stock now in terms of functionality. I agree that AOSP *looks* better.

Sense seems to me an intentional cripple to extend battery life.

Blur is hardly a skin any more, but the Tasker-lite stuff is nice. Don't like the one-directional launcher pages, but I guess that's more familiar to iOS folks (plus, of course, Nova).

Agreed. There's a huge difference between the current 'Blur' and the Blur that Moto loaded onto the Dx2, Bionic, and even the original Razr. New Blur is pretty damn close to stock Android. If you didn't know what you were looking for, you could easily mistake Blur for stock ICS/JB.

I loved Sense back in the Gingerbread days but the current implementation is a gigantic clusterfuck both functionally and aesthetically if the Sprint Evo 4G LTE version is any indication.

I don't like Google-stock Android. The theming is boring and flat. I use Samsung devices and prefer the added features in TW.

I've gone from an HTC myTouch 3G (AOSP 1.6) to a Samsung Vibrant (Touchwiz3 on 2.2) to an HTC myTouch 4G Slide (Sense3 on 2.3) to a Samsung Galaxy S II (Touchwiz4 on 2.3) and a Note II (Nature UX on 4.1.2).

I've been on stock android since I had a incredible 1 - Incredible 2 and then a galaxy nexus and now with the note 2 i actually like TW a lot. I don't find anything about it to be overly intrusive and it actually looks really nice.

I will be the first admit that Google's default skin looks boring.

I just don't think that the enhancements included other skins are worth the 4-6 month wait for a new OS version.

I like TW quite a bit since they introudced the nature ux touchwiz. Especially with the software tweaks they built within the TW framework like SmartStay, Smart Rotate.

I liked Sense for a while. TouchWiz while faster was always a 2.x look that to me looked fugly. Now that Android has graduated to 4.x, TouchWiz seems like a reminiscent of the past--an ugly past too.

Sense, while it looks good is getting very slow. Even today's dual core S4s are struggling. I mean WTF is that right? I understand the Desire being bogged down, but Sense continuously grows and grows.

After 4.x, especially Jellybean, I'm on the hating bandwagon too.

I have to admit to actually liking TouchWiz on the whole. I haven't used any of the others, so they might be a different story, but especially if you get a custom TW ROM with all the useless garbage stripped out, it's quite nice IMO. I have nothing against AOSP, but it's just sort of blah visually. I like colors, and more than black, blue, and white. So TW is great for me. Adds a bit more color to things without really reducing the functionality. At least the functionality I care about.

Stock > TouchWiz > Blur >>>>>>>>>>>>> Sense, LG, and all the others.
Are you talking the old Blur? Because as mentioned before, the new Blur is very similar to stock (and isn't even called Blur anymore anyway).

Depends...
Not the old, old...but not the newest either.

The first MotoBlur was a PoS. Worst Android skin on the market by far with only LG's skin being worse.
The second one(they updated it for the Droid RAZR series last year) was an important improvement.
I haven't tried the latest Blur(RAZR HD/RAZR Maxx HD) version.
