That's a standard feature on cars without window frames.

Not on my dodge neon it isn't! Anyway, its not really a strike against the vehicle...it just made me think that frameless windows are just a bad idea in general that they need gadgetry like that to make them more workable. As I understand it, if you close the door by touching the window it messes the process up.

It sounds like the OP has made up his mind. The car makes no sense at all given his future plans and even when describing what kind of driving he plans to do with it...but people are quite correct that you'll never drive anything like that again until you're 50. I just put it on the list of things you give up when you have kids.

Atlanta traffic SUCKS enough I'd consider an auto. Get this car or the V8 version of it or a mustang NOW. Do not wait. It will never happen again. I am 32 with kids now I drive a prius and a minivan. Don't become me. I've warned you. Once you have a kid forget it you won't get a nice detroit muscle car until you're at least 50, maybe never and worse you won't even care by then. The only thing that excites me about driving now is yesterday the prius has an awesome turning radius so I uturned in a street without a 3 point. Last car I drove that was fun was a v8 pickup truck because it sounded good.

I am 34 with kid and wife and still a have Corvette. 1 car (CTS) for kid hauling and 1 car (Corvette) for just hauling. :awe:

But at 24 I don;t think I would want kids that soon. I really hope your marriage is solid and you are ready for it as kids are a major thing. More then anybody can think of, well thats if you are a good parent. :hmm:

FWIW, I dropped our first child off at daycare using the 95 GTS in the signature for about 2 years. Kiddo loved it all the way up to 2.5 years when we had kid #2 and I was forced to buy...

A 2 door wrangler with a 6 speed and no top most of the year. Which I use every day to drop 2 kids off at daycare.

Oh, and you could also trade in for a wife that insists on manual trans only. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a family wagon with a manual? That isn't euro and priced like it's made out of solid gold? And then do it again 2 years later because a kid turned right in front of you?

As far as no muscle car after marriage: also situational. Both my wife and kids are ragging on me every freaking day to get the supercharger belt fixed and the 5.0 out of the third garage and back on the road. She's making noises about buying the new camaro, mustang or vette unless I do, and soon. She's a senior software geek with a decent income so I wouldn't put it past her to blow a couple months income and just come home with one. She did that one night in '01 with a Miata.

I have been looking at similarly priced 4 door sedans that still have smooth lines.

What do people think of the VW CC?

I can't believe no one mentioned the CTS as a compromise car. Your wife wants a 4 Door car. You want a performance car, you will get similar performance as the Camaro plus more luxury and more usability + space for future kids. CTS is the way to go if you want to compromise away from a Camaro.

Its a nice ride but its only a turbo 4 under the hood. You can flash it to pretty decent levels but it is in no way a muscle car.

I think these may be a little out of my price range. I do really want one though.

Also, I understand the CC is not a muscle car, but it looked OK for a 4 door without breaking the bank. Actually, had very nice features for a sub-30k price.

A CTS will cost you the same as the Camaro would cost you...heck maybe even less. Plus if you look at used ones, there are plenty of 2009/2010 CTS under $30K barely used, plenty of sub 4K miles ones around here for that price tag and elsewhere as well.

I admit I like the CC, it's a nice looking car. But look at it this way, you want a car that can perform, not one that makes you look like a better metrosexual, will a CC with a 4 cylinder FWD platform satisfy your performance desire like a CTS would? I seriously doubt it, it's not what you are shopping for. How can you go from shopping for a sporty 304BHP Camaro to a CC I have no clue. A CTS is your closest option next to a Camaro. But if the CC is what floats your boat, then the Camaro is not what you have been seeking to begin with. Just my 2 cents there.

I just found some Acura TSX's with some great prices. Any thoughts on these?

It looks like a CPO 2010 TSX with ~5500 miles is in the mid-$20s. With the CPO extended warranty this may be better than a NEW one.

The TSX is a gutless wonder with the auto. It rides just like a 7th gen accord.

My old roommate wanted one but drove it and was completely turned off, he ended up getting an A3.

Look at the G35's/37's instead. RWD, an engine with some actual grunt, and a back seat with doors. Granted...not a huge back seat...but much better than a coupe.

I greatly appreciate the abundant replies.

I think there seems to be some confusion as to WHY I want(ed) a Camaro. It was not for speed, it was for having a sweet looking car with some decent creature comforts for front seat passengers (2LT). When staring at tail lights during rush hour for most of my driving life, a 4 cylinder would have been fine most of the time.

Since forum members, my wife, and my parents have almost talked me out of a Camaro I have broadened my horizons.

First, I want a late model (2009+) with low mileage (under 20k) or preferably a new car. This really limits the availability of cars I like a lot (I want to drive off the lot sub-30k).

These are the cars I *LOVE* how they look:
-Camaro
-128i
-328i
-Audi A4 (some A4s look boring, but the 35k+ ones look like they have an upgraded curved bumper that really makes it sporty and not "plain"...just too expensive)
-Might as well throw the Volkswagen CC in here (people have made me nervous about VW though...)
-CTS (LATE models with low mileage are hard to find and still expensive)

Kinda like how they look:
-Acura TSX (affordable, but not sure how I like the looks)
-Infiniti G37 (really don't like the sedan, love the coupe just too expensive)

Based on these, any other suggestions? I am taking my wife to drive the CC tomorrow. I am really liking these, just think as a 24 year old I may look funny in this (same with CTS...something just screams 40+ about these cars design).

The BMW dealer wanted to "work the numbers" to get my payment below a certain amount. He didn't understand the monthly payment is irrelevant, I have a couple thousand in disposable income each month (we are both working with no kids...would be more, but we just bought a house)...I just am trying to set myself up now for future success by being conservative and save as much money as I can in liquid assets.
