Toughest race you've ever done?

I did the Boston Marathon without really training for it. Started training like one and a half to two months out. At the time I only had a base of about 18/20 miles a week. Only got up to 16 miles as my longest training run. You can imagine what race day felt like about mile 18. They say if you can run 18 to 20, then you can run a marathon. Guess "they" were right. That was my one and only.... in 2000. I did a pretty crazy half Ironman once. Then there's the "Leatherman's Loop" race in NY which is basically up a mountain and then back down. You run through rivers that are waist high and stuff, then you have to go up literally 60 yard sand dunes, etc. I think you cross rivers and swamps like 4 times. People lose their shoes all the time, lol.

i did a 100 mile bike race through the mountains. it got hot about 2 hours into it & a lot of people dropped out before the 70 mile mark. i finished, but my brain was fried for a few days.

Yeah man. It's in April every year. It's only a couple of hours away for me in RI - it's Cross River, NY. How long for you? Not too mention it will be like a freakin' training run for you....10K .... pshaw.....

Sometimes fun overrides all else, and that race sounds like fun. You think you might go for it next year?

Navy Bootcamp, Battle Stations. Not no where like marines hell week, but starts at 11pm at night and ends about 7am the next morning. It was more fun then hard though, matter of fact it wasnt even hard and was actually a blast. Its not a race, just keep up, dont get pink-eye (thats another story) and you win! The reward is you completed bootcamp.. LOL

Yes, there is a good chance. Have a buddy of mine I've been trying to get to do it the last few years. It's a real festive atmosphere after too. Pack a lunch and a few fine malt beverages - and it's Tailgate Time! We'll have to keep this in mind, Jeff!

Beer and food post race is a must. This is what trail racing is all about.
