Haha, yeah, I'm aware of the mind-numbing bore. I've been through some of the areas before when I was a kid. It was like, "Oh, a sign" and then nothing for another 300 miles.

I'm fine with driving through that if I can manage to not pay for anything still.

protip - dont drive the interstate highways all the time, nobody wants to build around them for a reason.

take older state highways and roads and you will really see what the US is like.

when you are up by cleveland i suggest you drive rt 2 and take that baby all the way to toledo. it's a good drive, little slower than 480/80, but far more interesting. goes past the nuke plant halfway between them!

It's pretty obvious most of you haven't seen much of the country. If you think there is nothing to see in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Indiana then you've been in the basement too long.

this is true, but im kinda glad all the rabid east/west coast fanboys are the way they are

i wouldnt want them to move to ohio and build more suburbs and drive up land prices

means ill still be able to afford my 50 acres in a few years :awe:

Any particular reason for going to Albuquerque? I've driven from Texas to California a few times and I always go through El Paso and Las Cruces on my way. It is a boring drive no matter which way you slice it, but a stop at White Sands NM just off I-10 is one of the best things you can do in the area. Going through Lubbock and northern Texas puts you too far out of that range.

Also, I'm not sure what you had planned for Austin but I can help you find whatever it is you are looking to do while here.
