I was hooking up my motherboard to the case, and the front panel connections (power buttons, lights, speakers, etc) were confusing me. I have a AX4GER P4 motherboard and a POWMAX CP769PL-6 case with a 450W PSU.

I'm wondering which part of the cable is pin 1? Is it the one with the tiny arrow on it?

For instance, on my Power SW cable, there are two twisted wires (one blue and one white) that goes into a connector which is supposed to wrap around 2 pins in the mobo. The blue one has a little arrow on the connector while the white one doesn't. Can I assume that the blue one is +Vcc while the white one is GND?

im gonna go with yes....

i was a little confused tonight while i was building my comp(into a superlanboy case)

i noticed that most of those connections were color+white, where the color had the arrow indicator on it....

i hooked it up as color as the + and everything seems to be working fine

Yes, 99% of the time, the colored wire will be be the plus, and the white or black wire will be the ground or -. You aren't using a powmax PSU are you? If you are..be careful, they are known for taking out motherboards..

usually coloured is + and white is -...

most mobos have labels by the pins and detailed instructions in the manual... also, most cables are labelled too...havent had to guess for ages if the cables are labelled one trick is to point the text side towards the edge of the mobo, and keep all of them consistent...

Hi, Power switch, Reset switch and speaker - makes no difference which way you connect. Leds just don't work if backwards. No damage will be done. Just switch them the other way and they should light at the correct time. Jim

How do you only have 132 posts? It seems like I see you everwhere on this board.

Anyways, yea the front panel switches doesn't matter. The ones that could cause damage if connected backwards will have one spot blocked off. Just as RAM can only go in one way due to the slot being off center.
