Personal Respiratory Defense System (NBC Civilian Respirator)
- Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Certified
- Voicemitter for clear and effective communication
- Drinking system with safety connections
- double gasket design
- impact resistant plastic lens with excellent optics
- 20 year shelf-life
- Manufactured in ISRAEL
$79.99 at Fry's B&M (LA/OC)

I think every household should have at least one of these whenever Bush bumps up our nation's alert system to ORANGE. These also make excellent gifts for any occasion.

Warning: the mask has NOT been certified for extremely toxic environments such as this one: Stay Away

Not to crap, but take a look at any worthless filters that come with these masks and the ones you will actually need, if you can get them.

i really dont see how a mask would protect u from nuclear air, maybe it features a lead filter to protect your nose as the rest of your body glows with radiation

Unless it has an O2 generating system, it's not going to work for such situations. Or with very good filtration, which you will not get for that price. And if it is good for nuclear areas, how much radioactive dust do you think you are going to get on your body?? It's crap.

Are there any pics available? I wonder if these are like the ones you find in hotel rooms in Israel.

BTW, these types generally use NATO NBC filters, which are not crap as far as i know.

hahahaha..... many chemical agents like sarin can be absorbed through the skin and since the agent is odorless, you'd be on the floor in convulsions before you even got the mask on. Plus most people panic when they put on the mask due to the restricted view and higher breathing effort.

Suckers.

Windowgg, you seem to know a thing or two about the topic.
I admit I know very little and I would assume so do most people.

Answer these basic questions if you would pls:
1. What would be a good thing to have in terms of best protection.
2. Where's the best deal for it.

If anyone else can answer these two instead of crapping on this deal... please do.

well, a bullet between the eyes would make a flak jacket useless, but i'd still wear one . I don't get your logic.

Yeah, then you just die of lead poisoning.

Hypothetically speaking, let's assume that some sort of chemical, biological, or nuclear release occurred. Let's also assume that you were quick enough to put on your mask. How long are you going to keep it on? How would you know when it's safe to take it off? Some of these chemicals may persist for days. Are you planning to eat and drink through the mask? Believe me, if you have to put on one of these masks, you've got bigger problems. Like your neighbors looting/raiding your house for food.

well, you get the heck out of there, or you are dead anyway...and why is having your neighbors loot your house a bigger problem than being dead?

If you dont want to worry about getting protection, move to Tacoma WA. In case of an attack you will likely die in only a few min.
I live 2 mi. from fort lewis, 2 mi. from Mc Cord AFB. 30 mi. from Banger sub base and 35 mi. from boeing and microsoft .
all prime targes.

Unless you had prior warning, by the time you realize you need to use this, it's probably already too late.

All you all:
18 posts of smarta$$es talking sh*t and not offering any alternatives.

Millions and millions of gas masks are made and distributed around the world for a reason.
I guess none of us here knows what the difference is between a good mask that can help you in such and such situation and a product that's just playing on people's fears... We have yet to see a post from somebody who actually knows something about the topic.

I saw a special on ABC that showed many civilians in Israel carrying consumer masks around just in case. I don't know if these are the same ones, but I would assume that they (Israeli companies) make masks for those situations. Masks may not be useful if you're at ground zero for an attack, but you could always be the person down the block getting evacuated.

it ain't exactly the nicest environment thats for sure. it's a semi-desert area with loads of smog that wafts in from the LA area, coupled with the nice odor of cow manure every time the winds shift east, coming from this farming city called Norco. the environment is as stable as, oh lets say one of the moons of jupiter. can be 80 degrees one afternoon and the very next day it'll be 60 some. peachy. fricking uc regents had the bright idea to build a school here. right.
