As they say, you get what you pay for, and those Mongoose bikes from WeBeToys are worth exactly what you pay for them.......they're a great buy for your local bike shop, too. You'll be seeing them a lot to have it fixed or adjusted repeatedly.

Funny how most of my local bike shops carry the same bike. Toys R Us does have some high end bikes, and a lot of the points on your little list are crap. Let's go over it one by one:
Bike Shops: Train their people to match your kind of riding to all your different bicycle choices.
Toy Stores: Their clerks are trained to stock shelves!
Not true. Toys R Us employes a staff of bicycle experts that assemble and test each bike. The bikes are made to order and are not mass produced.
Bike Shops: Carefully, proportionally fit your bike to you. This is vital to your safety, comfort, and fun. Quality bikes are built in many sizes to fit you OR a growing rider more safely and longer.
Toy Stores: Bikes are ?one size fits all!? NO frame size selection or choice. (That?s like Nike? making ONLY size 6 shoes to fit everybody?s feet.) Ridiculous!!!
Yes is is ridiculous....that they would say that. Toys R Us has bike of every shape and size. You can sit on them, ride them around (they'll let you take it for a cruise in the parking lot if you want), whatever you want to do to test it.
Bike Shops: Provide you honest information, have more types of bikes for different types of riding, and let you to test ride your choices. Toy Stores: Have few bike-type choices, no test rides, but MIGHT offer a choice of colors!
Toys R Us does let you test ride and offers choices of colors (if they don't have a particular color in stock, they'll order it). I do agree that bike shops have a bigger selection. I know what I'm looking for, so I don't need a "bike expert" to answer my questions.
Bike Shops: Quality bicycles ARE repairable, worth repairing, and are built with better, more durable parts less prone to malfunction or need for repair.
Toy Store: "Toy store? bikes often use un-fixable, off-brand, ?odd-ball? parts, and ARE OFTEN NOT WORTH REPAIRING!
Absolutely untrue. The Mongoose I just bought has a double welded aluminum frame, alloy rims, and all Shamino gears/brakes. I know about bikes and they are all off the shelf parts. Yet again, an untrue statement.
Bike Shops: Bike shops have expert, trained technicians to build AND repair bicycles.. Toy stores have none!
Correct, safe bicycle assembly by a bike shop takes an average of an hour or more per bicycle and is FREE!
Toy Stores: Toy stores ?throw together? 6 to 10 bikes an hour, and most charge extra for assembly! (A bike shop would charge up to $50 to re-build such a bike.)
The same person that repairs bikes at a bike shop is the same person that runs the cash register, restocks the shelves, and cleans the store...what's the differece? Toys R Us has a dedicated staff of 3-6 people that construct and repair bikes. They are professionally trained and do a good job. You can take your bike back anytime within a year to have it adjusted if need be.
Bike Shops: ALL NEW BIKES need re-adjustment of gears, brakes, spokes, bearings, etc. after an initial 15 to 30 hours of use to operate properly and last. Bike shop warranties cover free adjustments, parts, and labor if problems occur.
Toy Stores: Expect bike adjustments to cost an EXTRA $25 to $60...and toy stores DON'T do them! DON'T overlook this "hidden expense! And, they can ONLY give you another bike-in-a-box when they sell you a "lemon!"
I do any adjustments myseld (c'mon.....they're easy to adjust!). If you need some to do it (as stated above) Toys R Us does tune ups up to one year after purchase if the bike was assembled by them.
Bike SHops: Properly assembled and maintained bikes last and last and last?
Toy Store: "Toy store? bikes often malfunction, need costly repairs, and DON?T LAST!
Yeah, toy stores can sell some pretty crappy bikes. Just don't buy a crappy one.
Bike shops: Bike shops teach correct operation, safe use, and care, and adjust your bike to you. ONE bicycle that fits, lasts longer and "holds-up" through many riders' use (and STILL has a re-sale value!) costs less!
Toy Stores: Clerks spend little or no time with you, and you get what you pay for! Their bikes fall apart, are sometimes NOT-fixable, are often disposable, and their frequent repair or replacement COSTS YOU MORE!!!
Who realistically keeps a bike for more than a few years? I still have a KMart 20" bike from when I was a kid at my mom's house that's 20 years old and still in good shape----it's just so outdated looking that it's be embarrasing for a kid to ride today (remember banana seats? ). Nothing on the Mongoose I bought it "disposable", and as I stated, since bike shops sell this same bike, their argument is unfounded.
Bike Shops: You BI-cycle for years on bike shop bikes.
Toy Stores: You RE-cycle ?toy store? bikes!
