Dear folk

Recently TP Link USB wireless TL-WN823N V2 lost its connection to home SSID,,,,I am using windows 10 64 bit

1-SSID not hidden as all iphone mobiles can see and connect to SSID

2-Router not far away from TP Link USB

3-TP link USB can see neighbor SSIDs, but not mine!!!

4-TP link can connect to my iphone hot spot

5-Reinstalled the driver again and restarted desktop couple of times

What else to be done ?

Thx

Have you power cycled the router?

If power cycling the router doesn't work, what model router do you have?

Also, if your router supports both 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands (which, I suspect it does), do you have different network SSIDs assigned to each band, or are you using the same SSID for both bands? It matters for troubleshooting in this case. If the power cycling doesn't work, I suspect the 2.4GHZ radio has died in the router and the phones are jumping to the 5GHZ band. The desktop adapter doesn't operate at the 5GHZ band (the 823N is a 2.4GHZ only device), so it can't find your router but it is detecting other networks around you so it is probably still working properly.

The easiest way to troubleshoot this would be to go in the router setup and change the 2.4GHZ SSID so it is different from the 5GHZ band SSID. If you then scan for local wireless networks on your phone, it should then detect both SSIDs if both radios are working and allowing you to choose which network to connect to. If it still only detects one network, the 2.4GHZ radio is dead.

If this router is located in the USA, then using channel 13 on the 2.4Ghz band is "illegal". (Maybe even without the quotes.)

"Legal" channels in the 2.4Ghz N wifi band for USA are 1 through 11, but you SHOULD ONLY use 1, 6, and 11, those are the only NON-OVERLAPPING channels.

Most adapters and devices, sold for the USA market, won't "tune in" or work with channels above 11, if they are "legal".

Some firmwares, especially third-party ones, allow, or used to allow that, but most don't any more.

Edit: The same thing can happen with 5Ghz and the upper/DFS channels. Some devices (Wifi USB NICs) simply don't support them properly. Some routers will select those channels, if set to "Auto Channel Select", and then the client NICs can't connect, they can't see the router.

Also, the FCC is going to open up the 6Ghz band, the whole band, for unlicensed / ISM usage, namely wifi. Once this happens, you will need new router(s) to take advantage of it, most likely.
