Well..got the RMA 120X. Fits 95% better. I can barely move it, can a tiny bit. I also went with the SilenX fan..75CFM instead of the S-Flex. I ALSO removed the Dominator fan as I think it affected airlfow. Right now I'm running at 1200FSB X 11..3.33. I've been around 40C at lesser clocking. Right now I am at 44-45-45-39. When running through Super Prime, PCMark, and 3DMark 06, the highest temp i got was 60..For a second or two on one core, 56ish on the 2nd core the tohers lower...PCMark vid and audio compression i think. But in general the temps fall quickly. SO maybe the cooler is what it's supposed to be. I also haven't given the AS5 time to set right...and after all the twisting to screw it in..still a pain...probably have too much. I tried to put it on lie the AS5 site says..r-l across the middle for the quad. So all being said it's running much better. CPU voltage is at 1.33..which I may be able to drop. Not sure why I put it there, just didn't want in 1.35. Now I am 46-47-46-42. I will try a more sustained load now, but the benches didn't get me nervous for once!

I'm curious if you lapped it, or checked the flatness of the mounting surface before putting it on.

Didn't lap it. The base was pretty flat. I reflected light on it and all the lines were straight so that was a good sign. The original mounting bracket had a plastic washer under the screw that fits it the hole on the pad...this one did not. Seems like they did something. But it is tight to the processor.

I'm really fortunate that you've "walked point" on these issues.

I'm modding a 13-year-old Compaq ProLiant [business] Server case for my Conroe system. It is four inches higher than just about any full-tower case, and a full 8.5" wide. I'm planning to post the photos on these forums explaining what I did with it -- after I'm sure that there are no "first-rights" issues in a modding contest I want to enter. If I can win the contest prize, the recompense will barely offset the extra expense and high-end parts I'm using for the system.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't devote so much attention to details -- many of them cosmetic. But the project is really "shaping up," and I'm psyched. I still have Lexan ducts to build, and I will paint the chassis interior with one reflective color and apply a different reflective color and clear-coat to the exterior case panels.

The ducting, fan-deployment and ThermalRight coolers are integral to each other. I'll be using the Ultra 120 Extreme and the HR-03 VGA cooler, and together, their fins and pipes take up a lot of space. The information about the Extreme cooler will decrease the chances that I'll have disappointments and issues after all this work. I"ve also passed on the information to friends in Albuquerque and Perris, CA, and they were grateful.
