If i do the step up thing to a 7900gt - do I have to pay the difference between 250 and their price? Or 295 and their price?

You'll have to pay the difference between 250 and the 7900 GT price.

dang that sucks...........

You can step up from any card to any card as long as it hasn't been 90 days since you purchased it.

[To GTaudiophile] When I placed my step-up order, the cheapest shipping was $9.95 (ground).

I have a question, is it possible to step up a card if you've redeemed a rebate on it?

The reason I ask is that the step up program requires the original serial number and UPC on the box and I've sent mine in to EVGA for the rebate... EDIT - no it doesn't

Based on what I read, you can step up (Obviously you'll get the "original price" - "rebate" to step-up from) even if you don't have the UPC on the box.

found out i was 40th in line for a step up to the "565" (7900 GT CO 550/1580) part and while the csr wouldn't disclose exact inventory numbers, he was very optimistic that i'd get 'em in the first round .
btw, they do offer cross shipping. you just have to have a credit card to cover it.

Might well depend on where you live. Mine goes to GA.

Where are you guys seeing the queue number? My e-mail says nothing.

I just ordered a matching card from NewEgg so I'll be rocking the funky beats while waiting for the other half of the SLI.

Edit: I found where - I'm #19.

Just go back to the step up page, type in your serial # and email, click submit and you'll get the status of your request.

I'm #29 for the 500/1500 part (the 7900GT OC I think). I would love some feedback about your thoughs about my choice to pick this model. I'm thinking it saves me $20 if the MSRPs on the first page are correct, and seems to have the same cooler as the Superclock, which looks to be different from the base version. Am I right about the price being $320 and the cooler being different? Do you think the card will have any problem hitting Superclock speeds, or should I have sprung for the extra $20?

EDIT: What I'm really hoping is that eVGA will do what they did for the 516 7800GT part that myself and some others recieve, namely clock it at the higher level out-of-the-box. My 516 came at 517 speeds, so it basically just saved me some $$$ with no penalty.

Guess I have to stick with the slow(er) card for now. I am a little ticked about this... unless...

Anyone want to buy a 7800GT CO running @ 500 core? Real cheap... C'mon

actually, selling your card doesn't seem like THAT big of a deal. If you buy a $300 7900GT at 500/1500 and sell your 7800GT for $200 you are only out $100. My step up will cost me about $52 if eVGA lists the overclocked model at $319.99 and charges tax. You would only be out about $48, not that big of a deal. Any for all I know you may be able to get more for your 7800GT, I just picked a price point well below the new cards.

/\/\ I think you do. I was tossing the boxes from my rig a couple of weeks ago and made sure to keep all the stuff from my 516 for this eventuality.

I seriously doubt that. I also had a 7800 CO SE which actually was a CO .. but I guess that happened because evga was running short on CO SEs and had surplus COs (Correct me, if I am wrong).

In our case, they should be in no hurry to send us our cards .. so there's no need for them to stock CO superclock as a regular CO. My $0.02

BTW, I am stepping up to a CO as well. I am more interested in their copper cooling than a few more Hz of overclocking. We can overclock ourselves, if we really want. But the copper cooling seems like a much better deal for a tad more money than a 7900 GT

Exactly! I'm glad someone else posted this, since this is what I was thinking when I saw the pics of the cards, but I wasn't 100% sure on the cooling solution. I see no real reason why the equally cooled 500mhz part shouldn't run at 550mhz as soon as it enters my PC.

Not sure, that seems possible, but my card and box are both labled as 516s, only the speeds are at the 517 rates.

Yeah same here. I started at #9 in the 7900GT CO queue and now I'm at #12.

BTW Does anyone know if the Zalamn 700cu will fit on this card?
