Tracking IP addresses.

I've seen a couple of posts about this. I'm wondering how you can tell who owns an ip address. I got an email message with an IP attached to it and I'm wondering who sent it... Anyone know some places that can at least tell me the ISP who has it registered? Thanks...

You would have a shot using traceroute.

Also there is a program at www.visualroute.com (called visual route, go figure.) It is a visual traceroute and in the network colum it lists all the contact information for said IP address.

I guess what I am really looking for is a website address where I can type in an ip address and have them do the search for me so I don't have to install software. I will also try this program because I need a new tracking program anyway. Thanks...
