Trading advice

Ok, maybe it is my personality, but I'm irked, and want to know what'd be appropriate.


I place items for sale in FS/FT on Saturday. I get a reply from a guy that calls dibs on 3 things. He asks for the total, I give it.

He says he is running to the PO to get the MO.

The next day, I ask him is it confirmed, to which he replies YES.

Now in the terms of the sale, the wording was clear that if you were the type that was rabid about me shipping the 'same day',then don't bother buying from me. I only promise I'll ship in 3 working days after reciept of payment as I am a busy person.

So yesterday, I get a pm asking how I will ship, and that he has to have it by May 4th. I remind him I said I'd ship USPS and that I said I could not guarantee it. Now this seems a funny time to ask (2 days after the deal is supposedly done). I reply back and ask bluntly has he paid yet? That was at 8 ish pm. I notice that he came back on per system timestamp at 10:30 pm. I got no answer to my reply and to my question.

Basically, I just wrote him and told him if he has not sent the MO, please don't. And that if he did, I'll send it back to him as this is getting to be a pain.

Am I being unreasonable?

He should have told you up front if he needs it by a certain date.

It is my suspicison that he never sent the MO, I might be wrong. If he indeed never did send it, should I leave a negative?I mean if that is the case, I've wasted several days that I could've sold it to someone else.

No, it sounds like the buyer didn't read your terms, if you were indeed upfront about shipping.

Walk away from it, only leave a negative if he tried to screw you somehow, and I don't see that. Eat the lost time, it's business. "write it off"

I can kind of feel that, but what should be done about people that waste other trader's time like this? If a person had done this 15 times, per rules there would be no record in 'the heatware'. Now, if I were a buyer, I'd sure like to know if the person was the kind that makes deals, leads you on, the renigs after it was declared a 'done deal'.

It's a hazard of online trading and you haven't lost anything. Add them to your DNT list and move on.

Here's what I normally do:

No dibs. First person to pay get's the item. Til then, it's a fair game.

Always state the shipping method in your post.

When finalizing transaction, always tell the buyer when you expect to ship, even of they didn't ask.

Also, no dibs and money talks.

I will take a MO, but anymore they are a PIA

Ahh yes, that was a mistake on your part, accepting "dibs". Money talks, bullsh!t walks.
