Since you posted a link from San Ramon, CA, here's what the Kahleeforneeya DMV's Driver Handbook has to say:
"At intersections without STOP or YIELD signs, slow down and be ready to stop. Yield to vehicles already in the intersection or just entering it. Also, yield to the car which arrives first or to the car on your right if it reaches the intersection at the same time as you do.
At ?T? intersections without STOP or YIELD signs, yield to vehicles on the through road. They have the right-of-way."

Doesn't everyone know this? They taught it in driver's education here... I think it was even on the permit or license test. California driver suck though, so I'm not too surprised.

I thought that the driver on the right and whoever else was there first has the right of way?

Apparently not. There was a thread a while back where someone was bitching up a storm because he got a ticket for failure to yield at an uncontrolled intersection, and he didn't understand how he could be expected to yield when there's no sign. I guess some people use use the "close your eyes and pray" method at uncontrolled intersections.

California drivers do suck ... you're not in California, the speed limit here is 75, so don't drive ib the fast lane going 70, thinking you're the fast one.

Sometimes it needs to be done. Back in the 60s my mom went to Austria to visit relatives. None of the intersections between the airport and their town had any form of control. She said it was like one big game of chicken.

what if 4 cars approach at same time, wouldn't that make everyone the RIGHT Of WAY?
and what about 2 car parallel each other, who's "right" then?

I've never seen a 4 way intersection without at least 2 stop signs. That is a potentially scary situation right there...

I just thought I should pint this out: no one has the right of way. Ever. The lay states the driver must YIELD the right of way to another. There really is a difference.

So you have never driven before, correct? They are all over the place; in every state, including PA. You just don't recognize them as you go though them if you are not a driver. If you are a driver, I weep for other drivers in PA.

Treat an uncontrolled intersection as if it has 4 yield signs.

I'd say stop signs, but you don't have to stop if nobody is coming.

I honestly can't think of a time that I have seen a 4 way with no stop signs either the same thing too and I am from Pittsburgh also (we both go to University of Pittsburgh)...

They are mostly in residential housing areas. They are usually all over in housing developments. At least in CA where I lived they were.

Go to Lancaster.

Eastern PA is more like New England. They have traffic circles as well, which are non-existent in Pittsburgh.

:Q

Although, I'm not sure I've ever encountered one..

Every 4 way I've ever seen has at least two stops signs, or a square red blinking light.

Never seen one. If I don't have a stop sign I assume the other lane of traffic does. How can people expect you to be able to verify that the lane to your right doesn't have any form of traffic control as you pass through it. That is pretty fucked up.

Edit: We were taught to yeild to the right, but it was mainly in the scenario where all 4 lanes have a stop sign, not in the scenario where no one does. wtf.
