Hey all:

I have Paul Oakenfold's original Southern Sun (and his mixes) from his Bunkka album, but there's a version with completely different lyrics on DJ Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise 3 (If you have the CD/mp3, etc it's at about 46.21). I've been trying to find the lyrics to that mix but cannot find them anywhere. I can't manage to transcribe them either, it's a little blurred.

Maybe those of you with better talent can figure it out for me or lead me in the right direction.

It sounds like "Cuz it's easier to try, than to face this wave of uncertainty, then the truth comes back around. In the end to not believe..." whereas in the original Southern Sun it's "Cuz it's easier to fly, than to face another night of southern sun."

Please let me know if you can help

is it one of these?

Unreleased Tiesto Remix

Piece by piece
I release
Once was mine
Now undone

Turn blue, like New Orleans
And went down like
the Southern Sun

I still feel you
Beneath my skin
I am tempted
To throw myself to sea

'Cause its easier to drown
Than to face the way [weight?] of insincerity
Then the truth comes back around

Piece by piece
I release
Once was mine
Now undone

Turn blue, like New Orleans
And went down like
the Southern Sun

I still feel you
Beneath my skin
I am tempted
To throw myself to sea

'Cause its easier to drown
Than to face the way [weight?] of insincerity
Then the truth comes back around
In the end you're not for me
Not for me...

You last like a song
I'm deflated
I'm pieces on the wind
Unrelated

I still feel you
Beneath my skin
I am tempted
To throw myself to sea

'Cause its easier to drown
Than to face the way [weight?] of insincerity
Then the truth comes back around
In the end you're not for me

'Cause its easier to drown
In the end you're not for me
Not for me...

'Cause its easier to drown
In the end you're not for me
Not for me...
Not for me...
Not for me...
Not for me...

And your love is all around

I don't hear "drown" in this, but that might just be me. Although most of the words in the first section that you posted seems to be correct. I don't clearly hear "I am tempted to throw myself to sea" but I can see how that might be it...

dang it, too muffled for me. If it really did say "It's easier to try" that would be kinda cool... A song of encouragement in relationships.

I just found this on a French site: edit: This appears to be the most accurate one so far... but if anyone has any definitive answer I'd love to hear it. (And it sort of sounds like a song about relationships anyway)

Piece by piece, I release
Once was mine, now undone
Turn blue, like new Orleans
And went down like, *the* southern sun
I still feel you, beneath my skin
I am tempted, to throw my senses in

'Cause it's easier to drown
than to find somewhere I feel sincerity
Then the truth comes back around

Click on Lyrics on the left side, and do a search, it has BOTH versions listed when you search for "Southern" or "Southern Sun".

(I was listening to that song this morning in my car , and I also got eight freaking versions of this song.)

Piece by piece,
I release.
Once was mine,
Now, undone.

Turn blue,
Like New Orleans.
And went down like,
The southern sun.

I still feel you,
Beneath my skin,
I am tempted,
To throw my senses in.

'Cause it's easier to have dreamt,
Than to find somewhere I feel sincerity.
And our truth comes back around.

Piece by piece,
I release.
Once was mine,
Now, undone.

Turn blue,
Like New Orleans.
And went down like,
the southern sun.

I still feel you,
Beneath my skin,
I am tempted,
To throw my senses in.

'Cause it's easier to have dreamt,
Than to find somewhere I feel sincerity.
And our truth comes back around.
In the air, tonight for me, tonight for me.

You last like a sun,
I'm deflated.
I am pieces of the wind,
Unrelated.

I still feel you,
Beneath my skin,
I am tempted,
To throw my senses in.

'Cause it's easier to have dreamt,
Than to find somewhere I feel sincerity.
And our truth comes back around.
In the air, tonight for me.

'Cause it's easier to have dreamt,
In the air, tonight for me, tonight for...

'Cause it's easier to have dreamt,
In the air, tonight for me,
tonight for me...
tonight for me...
tonight for me...
tonight for me...
tonight for me...

Hrm, so many different versions, and they all could work. Can't figure out which one it really is!

I know who sang the song but Paul Oakenfold mixed a bunch of different versions with the same vocalist, just different lyrics.

The last part I hear "Cuz it's easier to have dreamt, in the end you're not for me..." I definitely hear the "t" in "dreamt" in that last part.

I guess it's a combination of all of those.

Asked Solarstone, cause he made the chillout mix which has the longer version of the lyrics.

the correct Lyric is "than to face a world of fear and insincerity"

Made an account just to answer this..

You(I) can go to sleep now.

did we ever figure out who is more popular? Tiesto or the Chicago Bears?

I saw the thread title and, for a second, wondered what decade I was in. Haven't heard that song or anything from that era in a while.

Interesting that people think that this song is about romance/relationship. I always thought it was about struggling with drug, depression and suicidal thoughts.

Damn thread-necromancers!

This just caused me to go to a digital music seller and buy a bunch of remixes of this track that I didn't till now realise existed (I had the single on CD from way back then, but only the couple of versions on that cd). I can't actually go to shops to buy anything these days, so what the heck.

I signed up just for this, too.

Would you guys listen to the Orkidea remix? It's different, again!!! fxxk..

Here's what I made out of it:

It's easier to drown
When I face a world of fear and insincerity (courtesy of AbyssPetra / Solarstone)
But in truth I am bound
Isn't the air enough for me

But I'm not confident.

Hi there!

A bit late, but as there wasn't any further answer and nobody seemed to agree with the results, I propose a new one.
This time I used logic and a bit grammar.
The last sentense's mostly accepted word/group of words "to THROW my senses in" is a clue to the so debated word that would come right in the next sentense "'cause it's easier to THROW", as completing the previous idea. So "throw" is the key word.

Hope someone will still need this forum and thank you all for offering me the most precise lyrics for such version of Oakenfold's "Southern Sun" (this version:
).

There goes what I considered the best transcript:

SOUTHERN SUN

Paul Oakenfold

Piece by piece, I release

Once was mine, now undone

Turn blue, like new Orleans

And went down like *the* southern sun

I still feel you beneath my skin

I am tempted to throw my senses in

‘Cause it’s easier to throw

Than to find somewhere I feel sincerity

When the truth comes back around

Piece by piece, I release

Once was mine, now undone

Turn blue, like new Orleans

And went down like *the* southern sun

I still feel you beneath my skin

In the end you’re not for me, not for me...

Holy fuck, noob necromancers LOVE this thread.

SO tell me guys, in 20 years, has music really changed THAT much? cuz it truly does not feel like it.
Prior to 2000, each decade has distinctive music and even movies.
