Oliver Lieb no longer produces, at least not mainstream trance. I havent heard anything from him since like... 2001 or 2002.

I have a platipus record, but I don't think I've seen any releases from them post 2003 2004 or 2005, they're probably dead and gone too.

Tiesto used to be hit or miss up until the mid 2000s for me. Since then, I have not enjoyed any of his productions save one which was a collaboration with BT, "Bright Morning Star."

On a side note, I saw tiesto at a show back in 2004, and when I handed him my "Delerium - Silence" record for him to sign, he actually dropped it live into his set. The vinyl did skip, which I kind of felt bad about, but he played it live, signed it, and passed it back to me

And yeah... Oakenfold has been freefalling since who knows when, I think his peak was even before my time. I did catch his set at 2007 EDC, and god knows if it was pre recorded. I'm not sure if the mixing wasn't that great, but it could have been the poor acoustics. I've also read many many threads of people "claiming" that they've seen him stick in pre-recorded mix cds and just pretend to DJ. There are 2341234 rumors that he's gone partially or largely deaf, and rumors of him doing coke too.

two page thread on trance & not a single mention of oliver lieb/l.s.g...? /facepalm

trance became mostly cliched in the early 2000s. go listen to platipus or superstition label stuff from the 90s, not this tiesto bullshit. tiesto's like the britney spears of electronic music.

I used be a trance fanatic but I'm pretty burned out on the cookie cutter trance stuff that di.fm mostly plays. I still discover some awesome unique tracks now then though.

ah.fm tends to play better than di.fm for me.

If anybody has Sirius XM radio, they're broadcasting live from the WMC in Florida. Started yesterday and ending Sat. Tune into Area 38 or 80. I've heard some pretty good sets so far. Mostly house/electro house so far but there was a decent Markus Schulz set on yesterday.
If you dont have Sirius XM, they have a free 7 day trial of their online streaming you can sign up for.

The original atlantis remix of Solar Stone - Seven Cities is one of the top most beautifully songs of all time. I have my copy on vinyl signed

ATB - 9pm till i crap is his most successful song, but in today's age, I would argue that "Ecstacy" is his big hit. The two times I have seen him he has played that track, and you would not imagine HOW loud all the fked up kiddies rolling balls are singing the lyrics to that song. Based on experiences talking to people, I used to think most people were there just to party and get !#$ed up, but it's surprising to know there are that many music fans out at parties... or maybe I'm just disillusioned and druggy kiddies know that one song.

This used to be my favorate song when i was into it:

ATB owns... im suprised your the first person to call them out.

This is however there biggest song by far tho:

Two faves of mine that have withstood the tests of time (for me):

Southern Sun by Paul Oakenfold (Tiesto Remix)

So yeah, you can tell I am a big fan of the "vocal" variety.

This is the older southern sun version right, where she actually talks about dying. This is one awesome tune.

I like the new stuff by Mitiska , Jaren, a lot of gareth emery mixes are top notch, Myon and Shane 54 stuff.

Never really got into trance. Back in the day, local DJs mainly played progressive house & jungle. Plus we listened to a lot of IDM (did a better genre name ever come about?): Autechre, Bourds of Canada, Aphex Twin & Plaid were favorites.

For Drum & Base I listen to squarepusher a lot, still.

Same here, but I have been grooving to more Breakbeat these days.

What's some good breakbeat? I never got into it.
