What's their best CD to pickup? I heard one of their Christmas songs last year and was blown away, but then I picked up a random double CD of theirs and wasn't impressed.

That's their newest album. Check out one of the Christmas albums, if that's what you like. You can probably find live performances of many songs on youtube - take a look at a track listing of one of the Christmas albums and look up some songs.

I really like Beethoven's Last Night, FWIW...particularly I'll Keep Your Secrets and What Is Eternal.

I went to one of their show. It was pretty good. I could not believe that they played the whole set of several hours without any break. The only thing that I did not like it was the guy read the poem.

From that listing you posted it looked like everything they did was Christmas oriented. I just heard that one Christmas song last year (can't remember then name) and it was wicked.

Their show is quite an experience that's for sure. If you aren't familiar with their stuff, I'm not sure it's worth the drive though. Although, it is a must if electronica/hair metal Chrismtas music sounds great.

i am going to the day after thanksgiving show in chicago. cant wait. i have seen then 2 times before, but its been a few years. it is a great show.

We go each year when they come to Albany. It's a pretty good show. Loud hair metal music and bright strobing lights, what's not to love? If you are close enough, you will actually leave with your ears ringing.

Last year there was a couple of old people in wheelchairs that left pissed off because it was too loud. They thought it was just a simple christmas concert lol.

I didn't think it was too loud and I was six rows back from center stage...maybe it's because the big speakers were above me pointed back towards everyone else?

I saw them about 10 years ago in a tiny theater and they were really good. They have since moved to the local large civic center and I keep saying Im going to go see them again but never quite make it there...Hopefully within the next few years I will take my son to see them.

Saw it last year.. loved it.. They promised something awesome at the end of the show..

Then Joe Walsh walks out on stage and jam out to another 5 songs or so.. AWESOME.. There was no way to know he would be with them in concert when we bought the tickets.. total surprise.

I have seen them for the past 5 years...the first half of the concert is the christmas story they tell (with the narrator) and the 2nd half is where they let loose...

How are the crowds at the shows? I was thinking of getting my parents something different for Christmas this year but don't know if these shows will be a little too much for them.

It's not like there are mosh pits or anything, if that is what you are thinking.

It's pretty mellow, just like any normal show, no stage rushing or anything like that. It is louder than your normal concert though, since it is a band with a drummer, bassist, guitars, keyboards, etc... playing sort of a metal style show.

There are lots of older people and families with kids that attend. Just sample the music on youtube first. It might be a little heavy for some people (it's not like going to a classical concert or anything like that).

The shows are pretty loud (the band was formed by a former guitar player from the heavy metal band Savatage - I have their first album on vinyl ) and they have a lot of lasers and pyrotechnics...they usually post signs to warn anyone who might be prone to seizures because of bright, flashing lights...

edit: Not trying to scare ya...it is great show...the crowd ranges in age from kids to grandparents, so it really depends on if you think your parents would enjoy something like this...

I try to go every year. Started back around 2002 in Atlanta at a small theater venue. Since then I've taken about two dozen people ranging in ages from 14 to 50+ and all of them raved about it for weeks.
Sat in the front row last year, and I honestly wouldn't recommend it. It's too close to see everything and I was looking around the whole time. I was also scared I was going to trip the musicians as they were running around.

Great, great show. I saw them earlier this year when they did the Beethoven themed show. Fantastic.
