It appears to be a Sandforce, I wonder how transcends support would be when the drive takes a dump. tempting price though.

I have been out of the loop for a while. could someone elaborate as to why sandforce controller drives are an imminent paperweight?

They aren't paperweights. The "problem" is that usually Sandforce starts selling chips (and SSD makers start shipping drives with their controller chips) before the firmware is ready. Thus, lots of firmware problems initially. Once they have been on the market for a while, the problems usually get sorted out. So, right now they are probably fine, since I think their latest ones came out almost a year ago.

Mine shipped thursday and arrive in my post office friday.. too bad it wont deliver till monday because of the cheap free shipping i used.

I was using these 1.8 usata converted in a 2.5 case, these were dell pulls and only gets 200/180 ish. These 1.8 were worth a lot to x301 and other dell people so I was able to sell them for 239 and buy 2 of these faster unit.

Can't wait to test them.. using these on lenovo x230

I've had my Corsair SSD for at least a couple years with no issues. I've had my Intel 520 for a few months and no issues there either. Both using sandforce controllers.
