Traveling in the NBA

If you see SportsCenters top 10 tonight you will see Corey Maggette doing a spin move then dunking it. Yet during this spin move he takes 3 full steps (it may have been 4), which is a blatant travel. I know the NBA is notorious for not calling traveling, but I can't understand how if you are paid to be a professional referee how you can miss something as obvious as that. More than 2 steps is a travel, it's that simple. It drives me nuts when they don't call it (Kobe is the worst offender) and it ruins the game. Can someone explain this to me?

well, they have been calling it ALOT more than usual, and even Kobe gets called often for traveling. However, alot of the superstarts get away with it becasue peopel want to see them makign sweet dunks, not getting called for traveling. Personally I think Lebron gets away with it the most, he more or less runs it in from the three point line and dunks it over people.

Most players, even non-stars are usually given leeway (although stars get even more leeway) in regards to traveling when driving to the basket. Traveling is almost never tolerated on the perimeter or if a player picks up their pivot foot in the post though.

i saw the top 10 about an hour ago but i could have sworn he just put the ball around his back and laid it up not spin and dunk.

i just want the warriors to make the playoffs but it'll never happen, haha.
