I bought this trendware card a couple weeks ago when i got my laptop. It works well with my Microsoft wireless router.. But I've had a HORRIBLE time getting it to work with various other wifi connections. I can stand right next to my friends linksys router and the coffee shop's netgear router (it's not just these two, its done it with other routers) and it will pick up a signal, get excellent strength, and then suddenly drop. This is while STANDING STILL RIGHT NEXT TO IT.
It's only worth about 20 bucks.

-but this company had ULTRA FAST fedex shipping. So if you're in a bind...

Anyone know the chipset this uses?

NO luck here. I tried in red hat and mandrake. Three guys in the Info Lab at the University of Tulsa tried and got sick of messing with it. However, i have a microsoft adapter that works wonderfully in Red Hat

Used by both the Trendware and SMC cards mentioned in this thread. These 2 cards might even be made by the same OEM with just different exterior cosmetics.

Linux drivers released a week or two ago. Latest Windows drivers (driver only, no utility) also available from the ADMTek website. SMC's drivers (with utility) are based off this latest version, while Trendware's drivers (with utility) use an older version. No big deal, as you can mix and match. If you're having a problem with one version (e.g. constant disconnect/reconnects), try another version. Newer version doesn't always equal better performance/reliability for your particular setup. You may find this card takes a little fiddling to get working reliably, so if you're looking for a chipset with the best chance of working well on the first try, this chipset might not be the one for you.
