That is good advice. I could tell this was decent on the album but i was luke warm about it. The live version is definitely stronger.

Anyone else go in Raleigh last night? I've seen NIN 5 times (on 5 different tours now) and I think it was the weakest show by far. I know Lights in the Sky is a hard act to follow after 5 years but I was expecting more. The new material just did not meld well with the old stuff and the older material carried the most energy by far. Very weird contrast that resulted in large blocks of dead time for the audience. It also doesn't help that people all around us were screaming "Play Closer!" over and over when they haven't played it since the first week of September.

Also, the crowd was light and pretty much sucked. We had good seats halfway on the side and nobody stood up when the music started. Luckily with such light attendance we were able to move down to the front of the section near the stage and dance/move with real fans. The floor looked great but the floor is a nonstarter for my short wife.

NIN boards are overwhelmingly positive on the new tour, except for maybe the new bassist.

I'll be checking them out in 2 weeks.

slow build into some intense songs (pre HM songs), then bring it down (HM songs), bring it back up (pre HM songs again), then encore?

I'm trying to avoid major spoilers here and I've done a MUCH better job keeping away from tension2013 setlists, but I know some of it and it's pretty fucking amazing? Frail/Wretched/Big Come Down/I'm Afraid of Americans = O_O

No, I much preferred the Greensboro show and they did quiet/loud/quiet to much better effect with Fragility 2.0. It's not just the tempo of the songs that does not mesh, it's the type of music. I've read several reviews and comments on the boards that agree with this in that the Hesitation Marks stuff is just completely different. Keep in mind, still a great show. Just not one that's going to increase the fan base IMO, which is low given the turnout at the last couple of shows here. Have fun!
