Man, I bought both when they originally came out. Tribes was the reason I went broadband to begin with.

Now, if I only had waited ~5 years I could have gotten them both free!!

Same here, I was already in college so broadband was already a default when the first Tribes came out. I was a hooked monkey. Hot deal, I still have 2 keys for T2. Both were fun imho although some of the original T1 fans were less than pleased with T2 performance during all the patching fiasco.

problem is it is an online game (There are ai bots, but only a small number of maps support/enable them) and rarly anyone plays these days. Youll have a hard time finding full servers.

That's the point of this release. To get more people playing tribes 1 and 2 to whet their appetites for the next installment of the game.
Hopefully their evil scheme will work. The PC I had at the time was not capable of playing Tribes when it was current, so I am excited about this release.

maybe then i could play my ORIGINAL tribes 2 again.. i bought it on release and stopped playing it after 6-7 months.
tried to reinstall it last year.. but not only was it cdkey protected(which i had) but when you first installed you had to create a username/password
now HTF would i remember that after couple years. been SOL ever since.. cant even play a game i bought. be good to slap it in again. UT2k4 kinda makes me long for it

I've been playing the original Tribes since 1998. It is hands down the best game I have ever played.

Tribes 2 = ehhhh (compared to tribes 1, it sucks)

i totally agree. been playing since 98ish also. i don't play ANY other games. just T1. in fact, thats the only game i have installed. haven't bought a game since T2, which really pissed me off ;p

they should release T1 source so hopefully someone can use the original physics and gameplay/types and just upgrade the graphics engine, models and textures. that would be sweeeeeeet.

And yes, Tribes is the best game of all time.

AWESOME deal!

I picked up Tribes with Half-Life on a Sierra deal when Tribes came out (Half-Life? Oh well...looks interesting).....played the game to death 'til Counter-Strike showed up.

Best game there ever was...and still is! Heck, I listen to the soundtrack in the car.

yea, t1 rocks. only problem is that there is a pretty harsh learning curve to the game. newbs should keep on eye on the forums @ www.tribalwar.com for a possible faq. look forward to paying w/new ppl, just don't suck!

no it isn't. it'll be very similar, but not exactly the same... skiing for lights/med/heavies will be different and discjumps will practically kill lights (from what ive read). so that sucks. oh, and no repair kits. buncha other differences, but you get the idea. i want an EXACT duplicate, but with updated graphics.

I never played T1, T2 is my all-time favorite game though. I'm sure there will be a mutator that adds a repair pack and other missing items all configured to play like the original. Since the classic mod for T2 was released, I can't play with the T2 physics. How close is it to the real deal?

Not very well. I ran a GeForce2 MX 32mb and it was pretty clunky. My Ti4200 will max it out though, so it's somewhere in the middle. Sorry, don't have the ATI equivalents... Cause I don't like em.

tribes1 runs on my geforce1 32mb w/ most settings to lowest (distance is at max tho, and shadows are one) at between 40 and 65fps.

I started playing T1 the day after it came out. I was in on T2 before it was out. Tribes = Life. If you want to get Schooled, just let me know. Now, I have more targets to shoot at!
