I was wondering if anybody was following it.. I heard about it from a friend and was thinking it might be worth the 10 bucks to pick up the game...

Do you think that the new stuff will make it better?

I believe that it will be released on Nov. 27th (that's what I read somewhere). It should be $10 and will come as a CD only.

Let me tell you, I purchased this game the morning that it originally came out for $50. Then I couldn't even get it to run without an update that was issued that day! That game was majorly buggy. I sold my copy a while ago so I'm not sure how the quality has improved.

Do you think that the new stuff will make it better?

To quote the Beatles: "Can't get no worse."

This game could pretty much be considered the biggest flop in online gaming history.... With all the hype coming off of the 1st one, with all the possibilities, the game was released WAY TOO EARLY...
I was one of the morons who picked up a copy within the first week of its release (being a fan of Tribes1)... My, how pissed I was when I installed that piece of crap...

I would never consider trying this game AGAIN... And I doubt anyone would even bother spending the 10 bucks for something thats been outcasted as a failure... I certainly wouldnt

I bought this game when it first came out and it was alot of fun. I dont remember any problems with crashing. One of the cooler innovations was the use of vehicles. One thing I really liked was that you can run to the front line and kill until you get killed, or you can hang back and play defense and you could actually stay alive for a few minutes. My only knock is that you will get tired of the scenarios and the mod community and new maps were pretty lame. Still, coming after playing Unreal 2, it offered a fun few weeks.

I'm definitely picking it up.

I bought Tribes 2 when it was originally released, but due to incompatibilites with my old Voodoo5 (and a lot of nasty bugs), I returned it. But now with all the bug fixes, patched extras, and new mods, it should be enjoyable giving T2 another try. The $10 price tag just clinches the deal for me.

Oh yeah, I'm definately picking it up again.

The game had a lot of potential. It was just poorly implemented. The community was screaming for the game so the developers released it way too early.

I remember buying a geforce 2 ultra just so I could play the game .

I'm looking forward to trying it again. Apparently, they've re-worked some of the Tribes 1 maps for Tribes 2. I really want to play Scarabrae again! That was my absolute favorite map on Tribes 1.

Now I'm kinda excited...

I too bought the game right after it came out. Like nearly everyone else, I got fed up and got rid of the game. About a month ago, I decided I'd try it again because a lot of patches and whatnot had come out. Turned out the game still sucked. I do think the rerelease is worth checking out for ten bucks, simply because the game has a lot of potential. They better get it right this time though, or the game is dead for good.

I bought a used one on Ebay early in the year and I used to play it everyday up until two weeks ago when I reinstalled Windows. The patches fixed just about everything wrong in the game.

The reason Tribes 2 was released so early was because Sierra forced Dynamix to do so. I read on PA (I'll try to dig up the newspost in a bit) where one of the developers wrote in saying that they were issued an ultimateum by Sierra. Finish the game in a month for the March release date, or it was going to get cancled. The developers didn't want all their hard work going to nothing, so they slapped it together and tossed it out there.

Was I unhappy with the patching? Sometimes. The patch that crippled the game for the whining Voodoo3 owners pissed me off, especially because the game looked so good before it. Not all the patches were bad though. The promise of the "community" only to shut it down a few months after release was kind of annoying too. The forums were completely out of hand, I'll give them that. It's obvious the developers underestimated the idiocracy of an angst filled 10 yr old.

I read both the newsposts Alex put up on the linked page, what all is this supposed to change? I paid $50 for T2 the day it was released, am I going to have to pay another $10 for this re-released version, or are they putting patches online that will update mine?

I'm confused about this new release too. Is the msrp on the retail box totally updated version going to be $10?

I have had a pretty decent experience since the final dynamix patch. Never having played T1, I love the classic maps and physics in the garagegames patch. Then about a week ago, the updater downloaded a 50MB re-release patch. The purpose of which, I am unclear on.

I'd really like for sierra to give the series a chance, with further support for T2 and the green light on T3.
