Tried Chipotle Again

I hit up Chipotle whenever I see it on the road because I know what to expect, I won't know the best taqueria in the neighborhood, and it's healthy and clean (no growth hormone, etc). The price doesn't concern me and there's no fucking way I'm eating at Taco Bell unless I'm wasted out of my mind...and even then TB wouldn't be in my top 5.

Typically when I'm traveling for work, I'll go work out, have a shake, buy Chipotle and eat it an hour later. Easy, happy.

I think it's great. Much better ingredients than Taco bell.
Taco Bell food tastes good because it is 90% fat.
Chipotle is only 40% fat.

I've never had Chipotle from the chain but my dad has used the pepper in sauces before and I never like it.

Chipotle and Cafe Rio both suck. When I get in the mood for good Mexican food, I drive to HB for Las Barcas.

I tried Chipotle again today since everyone said I was crazy for not liking it after trying it 2 years ago and never getting it again. I had a self titled "Chipotle Lover" order and pick it up for me. He got me Carnitas, white cilantro rice, black beans, guacamole, cheese, green salsa. Still bland and was almost $10. Now trying it twice and not liking it twice, I'm just thinking people must not have any flavorful food in general in their life, especially flavorful Mexican food that love this stuff. Even the guacamole didn't have much flavor in it. I'd seriously prefer a XXL Steak burrito from Taco Bell over this.

It's not the best mexican but it's damn good for $7 and quick...the blandness is off set by the $ and convenience

I don't like Chipotle either. If rather eat Moe's than Chipotle if I have to go corporate. I especially don't like their lime chips. Most mexican restaurants I eat at I have leftovers, or I feel really full, but I always leave hungry after eating at Chipotle's.

I'm with you OP. We have one right down the road from us at work, I've gone a few times when coworkers have gone and never understood they hype. Its not that I felt it was outright bad, but it was just not very good either. I'd eat Chipolte again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to have it.

But for me, the chain restaurant that I think is below average to maybe even not good is Jimmy John's. I just do not get the popularity of that place at all. Everything is so unflavorful.

For me - Pot Belly's > Cousins > Subway > Quiznos > > > > Jimmy John's.

I like Chipotle for a $6.50 burrito. Is it authenticate, no, they never claimed to be. I'm not sure how some people find it bland, there's a lot of flavor in the ones I get.

q'doba is awful. I can't imagine ever preferring to eat at one over a chipotle*. They also seem to have a low standard of cleanliness compared to Chipotle.

Incidentally I had a burrito at Chipotle for the first time ever, I think, pretty recently. It was over-priced, bland, and horror of horrors, not properly constructed or wrapped. How hard is it to put together a functional burrito?

The two times I've eaten there the burritos were bland. Even the meat was tasteless. No part of it had taste to it.

This. Its insane the amount of food you get too. I've spent like $3-$4 and had to take a good amount home after eating enough to get full.

Fresh fish makes the best mexican food too. And it's cheap here, I can get 2 fish tacos + beans and rice for 9 bucks and it is amazingly good and fast. We have dozens of mexican restaurants in a city of 50k people so it's a pretty crowded market.

It's obvious you've never been to a Chipotle. If you had, you'd know that the chicken is grilled, not boiled. Also, the sour cream is not an extra charge. Guac is, but not sour cream. And since when is a tortilla anything but bland? It's a tortilla for crying out loud.
