I tried Chipotle again today since everyone said I was crazy for not liking it after trying it 2 years ago and never getting it again. I had a self titled "Chipotle Lover" order and pick it up for me. He got me Carnitas, white cilantro rice, black beans, guacamole, cheese, green salsa. Still bland and was almost $10. Now trying it twice and not liking it twice, I'm just thinking people must not have any flavorful food in general in their life, especially flavorful Mexican food that love this stuff. Even the guacamole didn't have much flavor in it. I'd seriously prefer a XXL Steak burrito from Taco Bell over this.

Blame it on living in So Cal. Only time I ever go to Chipotle is if I dont have cash because usually the Mexican spots dont take card and Im too lazy to drive down the street.

It's obvious you've never been to a Chipotle. If you had, you'd know that the chicken is grilled, not boiled. Also, the sour cream is not an extra charge. Guac is, but not sour cream. And since when is a tortilla anything but bland? It's a tortilla for crying out loud.

I've been there and am describing the taste of it exactly. Boiled, or grilled doesn't matter if it tastes bland and lifeless regardless.

Basically chipotle adds WAY to much bland rice along with too many other bland tasting ingredients.

As for your question about tortillas with flavor... if you've never had a flavorful tortilla then I pity you. For real.

Chipotle is overprice rice in a bland tortilla with uninspired meat and side ingredients. I've had to endure it on several occasions because some of previous co-workers who couldn't handle real mexican or tex-mex food.

I agree, I am not a fan of Chipotle. Thankfully, we have Anna's Tacqueria and a few other local chains that provide better and cheaper food.

ANNAS?! I almost at there every day in college. Definitely better than Chipotle. Didn't know there was more than 1.

Still, Chipotle is good if enough Tabasco is applied.

If you get the shits from it, it's 100% from ANY of the salsas. Hence the reason why I don't get the Salsa. I usually dress it up with the vinaigrette.

You're not alone. My closest Taco Bell is about 2 blocks from the closest Chipotle. The Taco Bell is always busier and I'll never go to Chipotle again under any circumstances. I can accept overpriced Mexican if it's good or mediocre Mexican if it's cheap, but I won't tolerate Chipotle's mix of overpriced and mediocre

how i feel.

Chipotle is overpriced and not very good. While taco bell sucks at least its cheap.

we have 3 "mexican" restaurants around here. Everyone talks about how good and spicy they are. My Father took me once and we were dispointed. Granted that was after livening in New Mexico for years.

Taco bell tastes like fast food mexican - fine if you like that.

Chipotle and Qdoba are ****ing amazing, would go there 100% of the time over taco bell. I don't go there for 'authentic mexican food', i go there for fresh flavors that I can't get anywhere else.

There are great mexican restaurants around me, and I recently spent a week in mexico... yeah the food is amazing but that doesn't mean I compare Chipotle or Qdoba to it. Its not similar at all.

You couldn't pay me to eat at Chipotle, and no I'm not exaggerating. I'd honestly put Taco Bell over them, as they don't try to pass themselves off as authentic Mexican Food. And Lava Sauce >>>> anything Chipotle could ever come up with.

I am wondering why no one talk about Baja Fresh. It is quite tasty, specially the BArrito Utimto enchilado style.

I am an avid Chipotle fan. It is a staple in my restaurant rotation but things have changed lately. A Cafe Rio opened up near me and I cant get enough of their sweet pork barbacoa. Man that stuff is tasty!

Cafe Rio has replaced all my Chipotle cravings.

Seriously how can you say Chipotle is bland? There are lots of things to criticize (like the overuse of cilantro) there but to call it bland? Kind of weird IMO.

Not all Chipotles are equal. Some make better burritos than others. But yeah, if you think Chipotle is bland, it's not that they don't know how to season their food, it's more like you're eating way too much sodium from other food.

False, there's a place I eat at in San Diego called Ranas Mexico City Cuisine, they add zero salt to anything they make, and it tastes 10 times better than Chipotle. A good Taquerías will use very little salt, if any to season their food. People who don't find Chipotle bland probably haven't eaten at a legit Taqueria.

Chipotle isn't bland as in it's lacking flavor, it's bland as in the flavor it has completely sucks ass.

You have to get the burrito with fajita veggies in it...that's the only way it tastes at all good. Also, steak > carnitas.

Problems with Chipotle:

1) ladling wet sauces without regard to anything on the plate, thus ruining each and every hard shell taco
2) meal + drink + chips = $10

Why I like Chipotle:

Pretty damn good ghetto nachos if you get an order of chips + burrito bol w/o lettuce.

Yea I'm not a fan of Chipotle. Even in this barren wasteland of Mexican food called North Carolina, I won't go there. Damn I miss good Mexican in California.

http://salsaritas.com/ - fresh ingredients, and cheaper. The one closest to my office is run by a really outgoing guy who remembers all his regulars, has smiling staff constantly refilling drinks and he is always doing somefhing to make your day better like walking customers to their cars on rainy days with his golf umbrella.

Theres a Chipotle and a Taco Bell down the street. Idont bother with either. He also put a Baja Fresh out of business with his service and affable personality.

/shrug. This is southern California we're talking about here. I run into a mexican taqueria at every corner. I got a few I places I like to visit for specific items, like torta, burrito, or taco. I have a feeling people's hate for a chain establishment just makes them dislike chipotle no other reason than to look hip. And like I said before, not every chipotle is created the same, some make better burritos than others. The one I go to is just fine. The burrito I order is very flavorful, the chicken is juicy. Their guac can use some work though, 'cause the one I make myself kick the shit outta of what they make.

Living in the Bay Area (South Bay), we have tons of Mexican places to choose from, yet I still pick Chipotle most of the time. I agree, it is pricey.

It's pricey, but it's fast...at least around here. I could go to a mexican hole in the wall and get more food for the money, but it requires me to sit down, wait for a waiter, etc.

Chipotle is grab and go. That's why its completely worth it to me.

You're claiming Taco Bell has more flavor than Chipotle?

You got the milder set of stuff on yours though. Doesn't surprise me. White rice? Really? Can't get more boring than that!

Brown rice, black beans, meat of your choice (I like the steak) tomato and corn salsas, sour cream, cheese, lettuce. There you go. Has more kick to it. If you want even more, get some of the red hot sauce. And it costs under $7.
