I have been using the Detonator 21.83 Driver for a while with no problems. Been having some little issues in some games. So I decided to install new video and sound drivers. I started on the video first.
System:
Athlon XP 1600
Soyo KT266a
1 gig Mushkin PC2100
Gainward Nvidia Geforce2 Ti500
Audigy OEM
Windows 2000 (service pack2)
Under "Event Viewer" it shows this error at every reboot after installation.
"INITIALIZATION FAILED BECAUSE THE DRIVER DEVICE COULD NOT BE CREATED."
1.) Downloaded new 28.32 Detonator Drivers from Nvidia.com
2.) Uninstalled the 21.83 old driver. Rebooted
3.) Ran the setup application for 28.32. Rebooted
4.) No drivers installed. It shows up in the add/remove area, But not under device manager.
5.) Then tried uninstalling it and using Hardware Wizard to find the right driver and installing that way and reboot, with no driver installed.
6.) Have tried the 23.11 drivers and tried the original 21.83 drivers and still no driver will install.
7.) I tried the Detonator Destroyer Program but doesn't seem to work for Windows2000.
8.) I had my Norton 2002 disabled when I tried all this.
9.) Everything was working before I tried this reinstall of drivers. Now none of them will install.
10.) I am thinking that there are traces of my old drivers still in there. Or maybe something is causing the driver not to install during the reboot process.
What should I try? If I left out some crucial info just ask.
