A10-5800K at 3.8GHz base and 384 shaders 800MHz iGPU. Very nice, Intel's HD4000 will have hard time competing against that.

The cpu will allow the gpu to strech it's legs finally. Those mobile parts are crippling the gpu potential IMO.

I find the performance of ALL IGP's to be a joke...AMD or Intel..."almost good enough" is under the bar...like I stated before...midget-MMA.

And funny that you think selling less is now a virtue...no wonder AMD folds left and right if that is their policy

It is literally physically impossible for AMD to outsell Intel at the moment. From what I've heard, AMD basically sold out of Llanos. Hopefully they will sell out of Trinity as well. That can only be a good thing.

It is literally physically impossible for AMD to outsell Intel at the moment. From what I've heard, AMD basically sold out of Llanos. Hopefully they will sell out of Trinity as well. That can only be a good thing.

I hate having to be the one to tell you this, lifeblood, but according to some posters what you claim to have accomplished is inconceivable. To avoid contradicting them you should probably stick to sorting 10s of thousands of excel rows.

I think the goal for Intel/AMD is to be able to play "popular games" at 1366x768 with "everything at medium" for 500-600$
And by "popular" i mean Sims / Diablo 3 / SC2 / BF3 / MW3 and of course WOW.

What's funny is several years ago consoles seemed to be slowly replacing the PC.
Now.. well... if the next consoles are x86 based it's a done deal... 100% compatibility...

For 300$ you can buy a Xbox4 (with Trinity2/HD6000) and hook it to your TV.
For 600$ you can buy a Laptop (Trinity2/HD6000) and use it for "everything and game stand-alone or on a TV"

I mean Ipad & Amazon Tablet & Generic Tablet & Playbook all run on ARM within closed ecosystems.
Consoles + PC using the same hardware makes a lot of sense.

What? Your definition of gaming includes playing anything other than shooters not older than two years, reducing graphical settings and getting less than 60 fps? That's it, we're revoking your PRO GAMURZZZ license until you finish a mandatory one month course consisting only of BF3 frag videos done on Ultra settings by a person with very questionable taste and a pirated copy of Sony Vegas. No you can't mute Breaking Benjamin, it gives the videos *feel*. Any other questions?

on a desktop the HD4000 cannot compete with the 3870K at all. Its not even close enough to speak about competing. With trinity... it won't be funny to compare both anymore.

Anyway i like the non-K version more... fitting within 65W is rather impressive with that gpu performance.

While I agree GF execution isn't the best -- Intel's capacity is just larger period. Even if GF execution was perfect they wouldn't be able to produce as much as Intel.

Frankly, Intel enjoys quite the market position at the moment. What really hurts their competitors (AMD, and soon ARM) is that in order to get a decent return on all that capital, they have to sell a lot of units. And in order to sell a lot of units, they have to price low. And if they price low, they're going to start killing competitors who have traditionally relied on hiding in the low-end off...

Right now I think AMD has a great value proposition in their Bobcat and (soon) Trinity APUs. I'm really happy with my DM1z, and I'm really hoping they introduce a DM1z with Trinity (they currently offer a higher-end one with an i3). That would be a fantastic laptop for lots of common productivity tasks. The hope is that if AMD continues to sell as many 32nm chips as GF can produce, that will give AMD enough $$$ to invest in R&D, and it will also give GF enough $$$ to invest in R&D and additional production capacity down the road.
