My wife is American while I am from Scotland.

I have wanted a motorbike (apparently motorcycle for you yanks) for as long as I can remember. I have always leaned towards a modern Triumph, but she refuses to even consider the idea of a bike unless it is a Harley.

So what would you guys rather have?

<--- The Garage.

Seriously, the bike you ride is about you not, the company who built it. Go with what you're interested in.

I was under the impression Triumph went under 30 years ago.

From Wiki:

When the Triumph Engineering Co Ltd went into receivership in 1983, John Bloor bought the name and manufacturing rights from the Official Receiver.[2] The new company (initially Bonneville Coventry Ltd) continued Triumph's record of motorcycle production since 1902, making it the world's oldest surviving motorcycle manufacturer.

And as for the OP, yeah get what YOU want and what YOU want to ride. While I'd prefer Harley, I think if your Scott then riding a Triumph makes sense if that's what you like. Harleys are just "American"...hence why your wife likely wants one.

If the bike is for you then get what you want.
As a kid in the 1950s I coveted a Triumph. Had a school friend with a Trophy (IIRC) and it was, at the time, the most beautiful thing on two wheels.
Enjoy.

LOL... she's not a biker... i know quite a few Harley riders that would KILL to own a Triumph (from years ago, of course...) ... quality was second to none.

It all depends on what you want out of a motorcycle. You need to consider what kind of riding you want to do and how much you plan on riding it. I see a place for both brands.

I vaguely remember when they went under "back in the day."

I didn't realize that they were still around. (not into motorcycles since the 70's, and don't follow such things.

How about BSA? They still building bikes? They used to build some good, solid motorcycles as well.
