Trivia: Congratulations humanity for causing it. Congrats to Republicans fighting against fixing it. What is it?

DeSantis having nothing to govern due to rising sea levels is a positive though...
I'd prefer he didn't govern because people got smarter and stopped being spiteful shitheels, but...

I can't hold my breath that long.

Since we've past the point of no return, isn't it time to look at ways of living with a warmer environment?
Why is it people on the right are incapable of admitting their past positions were wrong. It's the same attitude towards Trump, climate change, racism. Al Gore was right back in 2006 but he was mocked. I guess it was easy because it was Al Gore and he invented the internet.

Nothing that can be done now so we must just move forward.

Just imagine if it were true that it's self hate that prevents humanity from solving its problems and instead of having to fight an uphill battle against the fossil fuel industry protecting profits we had to fight against everybody on the planet trying to avoid awareness of their inner pain. Now there'd be a good reason why we're headed to extinction. But don't tell anybody.

Shorts and t-shirt weather.
Kind of what I'm getting at. As I recall, 2023 was the drop dead date (I think Greta and Al Gore both stated this). If corrections weren't made by then there was no stopping it. So here we are with runaway global warming and it seems like it's time to start planning for the new normal.
I haven't heard a single mention of living with climate change, who's taking the lead on it?

Obviously the Chinese are taking the lead because climate change is a Chinese hoax.

Also, not Republicans. With a few exceptions (Wa. state) they’ve fought against most practical climate mitigations across federal/state/local governments and continue to support subsidies for oil and gas, while favoring ranchers and agri-business for water management. They’ve failed at coastal community protection, and seem to be more concerned with protecting coal and fracking. Oh, I also have yet to see this GOP-led Congress address “forest management”—something Trump was very keen on to prevent wildfires from burning out of control.

Wearing white all year long.

I know a lot about Bedouins because the amazing Mullah Nasrudin, whose wisdom has added so much pleasure to my life, once made a whole tribe of them run. That's right, with the proper knowledge it's not that hard to do.

I'm confused about your statement. I think you're saying Washington state is an exception in that Jay Inslee's been very much an advocate for climate change mitigation. Maybe I'm seeing a double negative that's confusing me.

You mean like your cure for racism, just ignore it and it will go away?

Time to start with a new way of thinking.

That's probably because most of the people with the power to really do something will be dead before it gets particularly unpleasant.
But some people have actually mentioned just adapting, you may not have heard mention of it because you don't really pay attention.
Yet in the background, DeSantis has championed a program to funnel hundreds of millions of dollars to communities across the state to help them prepare for the sea level rise and worsening flooding that will result from climate change. The Little River area has alone received commitments of more than $25 million in state funds. “The governor [wants] to deliver results to real problems that exist right now,” says Wesley Brooks, who DeSantis appointed as the state’s Chief Resilience Officer to oversee climate adaptation efforts, “and set the stage for better preparedness in the future.”
...
DeSantis has piloted a new Republican approach to climate change by spending money on climate adaption but not on mitigation. In other words, he has sought to pay for his state to adapt to a changing climate but not to address its greenhouse gas emissions, the root causes of climate change.
Before he was elected to office, Graves had made his name by leading the recovery and rebuilding work in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. He had led the state’s efforts to recover billions of dollars from BP after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. His view, which he made clear to Castor, was that the parties should be able to agree immediately on projects that would help local communities adapt to and prepare for changes in the environment. Graves told me, “There is built up momentum in the atmosphere right now where adaptation is the thing you’ve got to do no matter what, right out of the gate.”
...
Graves’s plans for bipartisan compromise do not include a carbon tax, which most environmental economists consider essential to staving off the worst possible futures. I asked him where he saw common ground with Democrats, beyond spending on adaptation and resilience.
These are not the only instances, there are others, where the solution is basically "let's just learn to live with it".

I hope El Niño will at least keep major hurricanes to a minimum. But the ocean just keeps getting hotter…
