It's bigger than any of us.
Thus far, all we do is complain. TV news showing people sweating and complaining "my god its hot outside". And TV news showing people in public swimming pools complaining "my god its hot outside". And TV news showing utility workers at work outside fixing roads and building houses complaining "my god its hot outside". And schools closed because it's too hot outside for the kiddies to be inside. We see all kinds of people on those local TV news shows complaining about the heat. It's become a Summer stable like fireworks on the fourth and eating corn on the cob.
But this is now.... What about???
What about 2030 or 2040 when people aren't just complaining about the heat, people are actually dying in the streets from the heat? What happens when across the entire United States feels like Arizona on its worst Summers day? When storms become so violent that city after city are wiped off the map? Tornadoes so distracting that only a Hollywood writer could imagine?
What happens then? When it is too late and climate change is undeniably in everyones face? Climate change right up your nose. We're taking 130-140 Fahrenheit day in and day out. Floods so devastating that even Noah could never have conjured up?
People assume climate change will be a slow process. So slow that most can just brush it off as temporary or a fluke or nothing new that hasn't happened in the past. They will say, "I remember the day back in 1940. That day when it hit 114 degrees outside." And thus, climate change oddities will be ignored as just an oddity that has happened before. Remember that day back in...???
Me, personally, I do not assume climate change will be a slow process nor a predictable process. Frankly and in all honesty, we should think of climate change as the Titan sub implosion. Some occurrence that could trigger a fast and rapid implosion of our climate. An implosion of the earths climate happening so fast and so rapidly and so violently that as with the occupants of Titan we too could be gone in milliseconds.
I know, we don't want think about THAT. We don't want to envision THAT. We don't want to imagine a climate apocalypse scenario where a series of long termed ignorance caused by man over years and years would one day, at one instant, collide creating atmospheric meltdown. Not over years, not over decades, but happening in an instant. In an instant the air would be gone, in an instant the ozone layer gone, in an instant surface temperatures in the hundreds of degrees. All happening in the blink of an eye, just like with the Titian sub implosion. An apocalypse happening soooooo fast that no republican senator nor republican house member would have the time to deny it.
And to be honest, I think mankind would deserve this. Totally deserve this. God, or whatever entity has given to us this earth would allow this. After all, if mankind screws this up then mankind deserves the consequences. My only, ONLY regret is that when the enviable does take place that the other earths species have to suffer as well. Let mankind destroy itself, but spare the other living creatures of the earth. Bring back the dinosaurs if you want, but leave mankind out of the equation. And if I were god, if it were up to me and only me, that is exactly what I would do.
