I would love for one conservative that says it’s too late to do anything to admit that the primary reason they claim it’s too late is lack of action that conservatives directly advocated for.
Kinda weird to think that Republicans used to be the vanguard of environmental responsibility—from Teddy Roosevelt thru to Nixon’s EPA. Then Greenpeace comes on the scene and all of a sudden environmentalists are all branded as hippy Marxist eco-terrorists.

Too bad the GOP was taken over by a literal doomsday cult (evangelicals). Saving the planet isn’t their agenda—Rapture is. Big oil money is just the icing.

I admire your hatred of the heat.
These three week long heat domes we have had last year and then again last month are nuts. Got another high pressure ridge coming next week and I hope it's not sticking around for three weeks again. As hot as Texas is it seems unusual to get such long lasting high pressure ridges except in early August, and even then they didn't used to stick around for three weeks.

Their agenda is white supremacy

Maybe R Texas lawmakers can get frisky grandpa kidrock to shoot angry bullets at the air.

Since we've past the point of no return, isn't it time to look at ways of living with a warmer environment?
That is already happening. Two institutions prepare for the fallout so far 1. Insurance companies and 2. Military.

But do you even gr0k this shit? Its past the point of no return for a 1.5 degree rise. It may not be beyond the point of return for a 2.0 degree rise. You’re not suggesting to say “fuck it” its gonna happen anyway so smoke em if you got em? Cause that would be immensely dumb.

I think the actual motivation ACTUALLY IS the end times. Their inner self hate is so repressed and turned inward the only satisfaction they can experience is tha soon everyone else but them will be living in their inner hell.
It's white supremacy, that's #1 on their agenda. The Southern Baptist Convention was founded precisely in support of slavery since other Baptist sects were becoming abolitionist. All the Jesus crap is just PR.

Meanwhile in Texas, please just go fuck off and die. According to Greenman (who is somewhat related to skill trades) this is just living with the heat.

This the the GOP response. Please just die. But make me money before you do.

meanwhile ive been freezing my ass off for months. yeah it used to get hot early in the year around these parts as I remember reading but everyone in the area I've spoken to including the neighbours when I bought into the area said this year's weather has been a wild ride in the reverse direction! Meanwhile my sister's family on the others ide of the us has been enjoying the unusually warm weather this year early in the year before winter officially ended.

Reminds me of being in london years back before the pandemix in may or june and it being close to 35 degrees. it's doable here in america but back home your balls stick to your leg and don't let go, your ass sweats sitting down while eating an ice lolly. you'd think once you got a bit into the country where my extended family still reside it'd be cooler than the city, oh no sir, it's even worse. I remember one time it being around 42-43 degrees with still air and that sun being there with random showers through the day. it felt like a wet sauna but worse, you couldn't breathe even if you were the most relaxed fucker.

Guinness use to use isinglass (fish guts gelatin) for filtering to remove yeast, and might've also used bone meal though I couldn't find a reference to that. Since the mid 2010s they switched to a vegan filtering method. It's still a meal in a pint IMO.

I use to drink a lot of Guinness, both the draught and extra stout. I always wished we (in the US) could get the non-export (real) Guinness that they serve in the UK.

Nobody is going to have self destruction as the unconscious product of self hatred listed as a bragging right expressed as an aim somewhere. But it is, again in my opinion primary if fundamental Christianity composed of many evangelical groups.

All hate is self hate, learned contempt for behaviors we were called out for possessing and coerced to remedy, especially where religion is pervasive, by the threat of hellfire and damnation if we did not conform to whatever such notion of morality the teachers of this self hate fancied would insure our eventual arrival in heaven.

Racism is just another release valve for the hell of having to live with the repressed terrors of such experiences. Such expression is endlessly varied and now includes political party.

My only point is that in my opinion the problem goes much deeper than racial hate. It is hatred of life itself because the joy of life itself is what was taken. The result is an unconscious wish to be born again, mistaking real death for the actual possibility, death of the ego.

It's bigger than any of us.
Thus far, all we do is complain. TV news showing people sweating and complaining "my god its hot outside". And TV news showing people in public swimming pools complaining "my god its hot outside". And TV news showing utility workers at work outside fixing roads and building houses complaining "my god its hot outside". And schools closed because it's too hot outside for the kiddies to be inside. We see all kinds of people on those local TV news shows complaining about the heat. It's become a Summer stable like fireworks on the fourth and eating corn on the cob.

But this is now.... What about???
What about 2030 or 2040 when people aren't just complaining about the heat, people are actually dying in the streets from the heat? What happens when across the entire United States feels like Arizona on its worst Summers day? When storms become so violent that city after city are wiped off the map? Tornadoes so distracting that only a Hollywood writer could imagine?
What happens then? When it is too late and climate change is undeniably in everyones face? Climate change right up your nose. We're taking 130-140 Fahrenheit day in and day out. Floods so devastating that even Noah could never have conjured up?

People assume climate change will be a slow process. So slow that most can just brush it off as temporary or a fluke or nothing new that hasn't happened in the past. They will say, "I remember the day back in 1940. That day when it hit 114 degrees outside." And thus, climate change oddities will be ignored as just an oddity that has happened before. Remember that day back in...???

Me, personally, I do not assume climate change will be a slow process nor a predictable process. Frankly and in all honesty, we should think of climate change as the Titan sub implosion. Some occurrence that could trigger a fast and rapid implosion of our climate. An implosion of the earths climate happening so fast and so rapidly and so violently that as with the occupants of Titan we too could be gone in milliseconds.

I know, we don't want think about THAT. We don't want to envision THAT. We don't want to imagine a climate apocalypse scenario where a series of long termed ignorance caused by man over years and years would one day, at one instant, collide creating atmospheric meltdown. Not over years, not over decades, but happening in an instant. In an instant the air would be gone, in an instant the ozone layer gone, in an instant surface temperatures in the hundreds of degrees. All happening in the blink of an eye, just like with the Titian sub implosion. An apocalypse happening soooooo fast that no republican senator nor republican house member would have the time to deny it.

And to be honest, I think mankind would deserve this. Totally deserve this. God, or whatever entity has given to us this earth would allow this. After all, if mankind screws this up then mankind deserves the consequences. My only, ONLY regret is that when the enviable does take place that the other earths species have to suffer as well. Let mankind destroy itself, but spare the other living creatures of the earth. Bring back the dinosaurs if you want, but leave mankind out of the equation. And if I were god, if it were up to me and only me, that is exactly what I would do.

That's how the southeast us feels like 9mo out of the year. It's trash, it's a swamp, there's no redeeming features.

Funny, I find their stouts to be exceptionally thin and watery. Maybe the drought stuff is better but the bottles are undrinkable.

Speaking of which, Allstate and State Farm are pulling out of the California home insurance market. Wildfire losses are getting to be too expensive for their blood.

Or we could use really bigly space lasers (we may need to ask Israel to borrow them) and zap all the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere into healthy oxygen and neutral nitrogen through dedicated prayer

What if we skip the space lasers, and just drop a huge nuclear bomb on the bad gasses? That will zap all the bad greenhouse gases, and leave more room for good gases.

I agree about the weight.

The bottled Extra Stout is a little thicker, but not as creamy as the draught. They both are thin compared to most other stouts I've tried, which might be why I could drink so many in a night. I liked oatmeal stouts, milk stouts, double stouts, etc but I couldn't drink more than a few before switching to something thinner. Probably why I liked Guinness so much tbf.

Multiple examples came to mind seeing the original thread title:
1) Climate change
2) Broad categories of environmental damage and pollution (including toxic air pollution, groundwater depletion and fresh water contamination), Trump, trump appointed judges, and republicans have worked overtime to gut EPA and associated clean air/clean water regulations
2a) As a more specific example, coal pollution and associated deaths (all the way from blocking/loosening mining regulations, to mercury and toxic air emissions, to ash pit regulations) - all of which also ties into actively working to worsen climate change and keep coal plants running
3) Guns and gun violence
4) Racism

Almost 1700 people died in B.C. Canada in the 2021 heat dome. Close to 200 in the US.

It's already happening.
