Ok, I'm going to be the odd man out here, but I thought Tron was enjoyable. Certainly not the greatest movie I've ever seen, but it was entertaining. Also: Olivia Wilde. 'Nuff said.

I saw True Grit last night and it was a great movie. It was definitely a Coen brothers movie but it was actually more satisfying than most of their movies. The girl was perfect in her role and Jeff Bridges was amazing in his. I'd be surprised if both of them weren't nominated for Oscars and the film deserves a best picture nomination as well.

Tron was yet another "3D" movie where the 3D didn't do shit. Good 2D visuals, great score, shitty plot.

I'd go with True Grit.

I thought Tron was pretty good though the 3D effects were not worth the extra money (rarely are 3D movies worth it, but I thought Tron would be one of those rare ones...i was wrong).

If you do end up watching Tron, see it in 2D as I couldn't even really feel the 3D effects. The coolest 3D part of Tron believe it or not, was the ending credits.

What do you guys want? granted some scenes were in 2D but the 3D parts were great and expanded the area. Wrather then shooting stuff into your face. Tron was a good movie don't get why everyone hated it on this forum.

The majority of the movie was 2D and the very few 3D sections weren't enough to justify having to watch the movie with a pair of shitty/awkward glasses distorting/dulling it.

I don't see the point of 3D movies. Even Avatar, which was GREAT in 3D, is still awesome in regular ole 2D on Bluray. But because of fucking Avatar, EVERY single release that isn't a chick flick and has just the teeniest bit of action in it is released in 3D. For no fucking reason. Toy Story 1 & 2 were great in 2D, why the hell was there a need to have Toy Story 3 in 3D?

Like I said, the visuals and score were great, the plot was so-so. I knew that going in but seeing Wilde in skintight leathers could not be missed. I will definitely buy it on BR. Hopefully a Tron/Tron:Legacy pack.

EDIT: The above said...I'm listening to the score to Tron Legacy right now. It's fucking amazing!!!

I thought True Grit was good, but I think The Fighter was a heck of a lot better than True Grit.

Wow I saw Tron and didn't think it was awful. It wasn't great by any stretch, OK at best, but I only think a fan of the original would enjoy it.

With that being said, if I had a dilemma between those two films it would be a no-brainer. True Grit.

I liked Tron. I don't know why, but I did. That kid cannot act tho. I liked the original Tron quite a bit as a kid, the cycle scene kicked ass if only that kid never spoke.

Yea my wife and I enjoyed Tron. It wasn't a masterpiece, but it was entertaining, which is why I went to see it. I wasn't impressed by the 3D though. I actually thought we were seeing it in 2D since the theater didn't advertise the showing we went to as 3D and didn't mention 3D anywhere. It wasn't until they told me the price and handed me the glasses that we knew. By then I didn't feel like waiting for another showing so we just paid the extra and watched it in 3D.

I was fine with the 3D. The fact that I didn't feel like I was watching 3D is probably why I was impressed.

That's because most of it wasn't in 3D. I took off the glasses for stretches of time so that I could see the movie without the shitty dimming effect of the glasses and lo and behold, it was in 2D.

Me too, I hate those damn glasses. All the real world scenes were in 2D, so I kept taking them off. Although I enjoyed Tron it is probably the last movie I'll pay for in 3D unless something really improves. I hate wearing those uncomfortable glasses, and I hate how it makes the movie so dim.

I rarely go to the theaters, would much rather watch a movie on my plasma by myself without any shitty kids screwing with the soundtrack or dbags sitting right in front of me. The last movie I saw in the theaters was Pirahna 3D...I just had to see what should have been a straight to DVD movie on the big screen.

I liked Tron. While True Grit is by far the better movie, I think tron is the better THEATER movie. It's a good movie to see in the theater, what with some pretty solid 3D and a very powerful soundtrack which benefits from the theater sound system. True Grit wouldn't be any different at home later than it is in the theater now, despite it being the better movie.

It wasn't until this thread that I realized Jeff Bridges is in two of the biggest movies out right now. No real significance there, just found it odd he's having a resurgence lately (again?). I use to hate him as a kid, strictly because of the 80s King Kong remake, but became a fan again back after the big lebowski.

I haven't seen either, but I'd definitely pick True Grit over Tron.

He's not back, he never left.

I have to agree with you there, I wore my glasses 99% of the time I am unsure of what was 3d and what wasn't. I did see when it was normal people it was in 2D and I will totally agree on the glasses. I freaking hate them. Mine where smudged up already. But it wasn't too bad. But I would of prefer to watch it in 2d sans glasses.

The Soundtrack is epic, I listened to it before the movie and when they played it during the movie it was just earorgasms all around.

I have to disagree. I was actually very pleased that I watched True Grit in the theater, and thankful that circumstances lead me to do so.
