Here is my current rig:
DFI Lanpart NF4 Ultra-D
2X512MB OCZ VX GOLD
1X6600GT
1X 74GB Raptor
1 X NEC 3550A
2 X SX4000 RAID Card
4 X 160GB 7200RPM (RAID 5)
4 X 180GB 7200RPM (RAID 5)
I had an Athlong 64 3000+ installed in the system overclocked to 2160 (240X9). The system was totally stable.
I recently upgraded to an Opteron 165. The system is now completely unstable with all 8 RAID disks running. If i unplug the 8 drives, stability returns.
Seemed like PSU issue to me. I had a Cooler Master 450W (ACLY) in the machine.
Today i added a new OCZ 600W Powerstream to the mix. Identical symptoms. Voltages all appear to be in check, but whenever all the RAID drives are plugged in the system will either refuse to boot or will behave poorly.
I am running the newest BIOS on the DFI. This was the only other change as the odl bios was not Opty compliant.
I have also removed the VX and put in a 512MB stick of Kingston slow stuff - no change in stability.
