Trouble Installing Intel RAID Drivers

This Computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software.

This is the error my friend gets while attempting to install the software while in Windows. Yesterday, originally he had installed windows without using the driver disk Intel provided, and everything was fine and dandy, except that his optical drive was stuck in PIO mode, and ran infuriatingly slow.

I had a similar problem when I first picked up my Foxconn board, but installing the RAID driver off my motherboard cd took 3 seconds and I was all set. It seems like he isn't so lucky. We assumed if he just started over with another fresh install, this time installing the RAID drivers off the floppy at the beginning of his OS setup, there'd be no problems, but again, he can't install the drivers in windows, and his drive is again stuck in PIO mode.

Where are we going wrong? Or is the board simply screwed up in some way, warranting a return?

His new System:
Intel BLKDG965WHMKR
E6300
2 Gigs GSkill (2x1GB)
eVGA 7950GT KO 512
WinXP Pro SP2

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Under device manager, the controller is listed as an Unknown Device. We've tried updating the drivers, and pointing to the RAID disk, but that didn't work. And we still get that error about minimum requirements when trying to install the Intel Matrix Storage manager.

1) Get the Floppy Configuration Utility - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager
2) The SATA controller is in IDE mode if you didn't need to hit F6 at the beginning of XP setup. If you set it to SATA mode aka AHCI in the BIOS you must to hit F6 to load the driver from a floppy. Insert the floppy with the driver, press S, then enter, now use your up and down arrows to locate Intel(R) 82801HR/HH/HO SATA AHCI Controller and press enter.
3) After XP is installed you need to install the INF: Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility
4) To get rid of the yellow exclamation PCI communication entry in the device manager install the Intel® ME: Management Engine Interface Driver or look here.

The one thing that puzzles me, is the last time we installed XP, we did the floppy thing, pressed F6, installed the RAID driver, and still, we can't get this software to install.

Should we have done the RAID driver or AHCI?

He's only running one hard drive at the moment.

Again, if the SATA ports in the bios are set to IDE you don't hit F6 at all because XP treats it as a standard IDE controller and has native support. However if it's set to SATA mode or AHCI, and you only have one hard drive, then you don't install the raid driver. Instead you install the proper AHCI driver. The directions in my previous post walk you thru the process.

Alrightys. Going to give this a shot later.

Will make certain that BIOS setting is on SATA this time. Will install the AHCI driver. And will hopefully celebrate this time.

Thank for the input, it's mucho appreciated.

Having the same problem, but with another motherboard (Abit AW9D-Max), which shouldn't be a surprise since both are intel ICH7R chipset. I've already loaded windows xp pro sp2 and various programs on a raptor hdd as primary boot device. Worked well for a week, then I went and installed two samsung 250gb hdd's for a raid 0 array for video editing. These would NOT be boto disks. used bios to create the raid, non boot, and now the thing won't boot into windows using the raptor. Nobody has confirmed, but it looks like once you initialize the intel chipset to run raid (or ahci, I tried this also), the whole chipset needs drivers since it is not running in default (ide?) mode.

So, I try to install matrix driver and it says my system doesn't meet system requirements. I look at minimum system requirements and all are hardware requirements (which I meet) and one software requirement - the intel chipset software INF utility. I installed that several times over from my mobo-suppied cd and from Intel's download website. So it should be good, but still the matrix driver says not meet sys requirements. Now, in note, the chipset software INF utility install goes "weird" where it seems to finish too quickly, but it gives no error message so I've got to assume it installed correctly. Still, no drivers can be installed as not meet min sys reqmnts.

I'm at the stage where I'm gonna go buy a floppy drive, reinstall windows, use the f6 install method on os install, and then go back and reinstall everything else!
Well, that is, I was going to do this until another poster said try the floppy install while in BIOS. I'll try that and if no work, then the reinstall of OS. Luckily, I've only installed severl programs and no real data. Was waiting to migrate that from a backup external hdd onto raid drives.

good luck,

curt j.
