I am setting up a verizon fios router (actiontec MI424WR) and a PePwave officepoint 400 access point.
The access point will be for public wifi access, so I want to segregate it from the rest of the network. The access point has a "router mode" which I think achieves what I want. The problem is, when I try to configure the AP for router mode, it won't give IP's out to wireless clients. I can connect to the AP wirelessly, but I won't have an IP and cannot use the internet.
My router is on the 192.168.1.x subnet. I set my AP to 192.168.0.x subnet.
Here are the settings I am using for the AP:
LAN IP: 192.168.1.5 (I am assuming this is the AP's WAN IP. For some reason when I check my router, it says my AP's IP is 192.168.1.6 despite me setting this to 192.168.1.5.)
LAN Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server: Enabled (I think this is the AP's DHCP server)
IP Start Range: 192.168.0.100
IP Stop Range: 192.168.0.200
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Broadcast Address: 192.168.0.255
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS 1: 192.168.1.1
Anybody know the cause of the problem here? Thanks in advance.
