Memtest86, made a cd from ISO and set boot in bios... how does it load... i turned the pc on it loaded from the os. On top of that, when I opened the cd contents the files are still in a folder and zipped???
Ended up using Driver Cleaner Pro 1.5 to remove just the 182.06 and downloaded from nVidia site. System crashed with COD5 at the begining of a mission with usual black screen, double red led indicators on the card as before with no reboot. Repeated above removal of the driver and installed 182.06 from eVGA website, still crashing.
Than did prime95... I have a stock cooler, I put all the fans on high in the antec 1200 prior to running and started the stress test with the testing of a "little bit of everything" lots of RAM. Ran it for 45 mins... when I was feeling periodically of the fan exhaust... Bigboy cool, top rear cool, one below it warm.
I wanted to check temp and I recalled seeing the probe it II utility on the ASUS cd and downloaded it/launched it... immediately I heard alarms and saw my cpu at 89, I never wanted to have this get that hot in no way shape or form. ***This all on me*** I appreciate all the advice I can get**** So I shut it down and decided to reboot and the cpu according to probe it II was now down to 39.
Two things, one, there were no errors in prime95 in the 45 min run time and was stable... even surfed the net while running.
Secondly, I've got to assume the chip was high 80's for the 45 min run.... with that assumption my chip should be ok, right...thoughts/experiences?
I know I've read fourms about these chips taking some heat.... but heck, I didn't want to be one of those advising personal knowledge, lol.
Heard from ASUS tech Support via email to my emailed query of this issue, and here is the reply, note: my card is an eVGA and the tech guy says call our RMA department??? Huh??? Awaiting reply from eVGA.

[Problem Description]
Just built my pc i7 with the ASUS P6T mobo a few days ago and when I installed
COD5 a couple of days ago and attempted to play the game it crashed right after
loading the mission and before I could play the game.
That what was when I noticed that the epu-6 engine wasn't recognizing the card and I
clicked the link from the epu-6 utility and every nVidia card is on the vendor support list
and however; the list didn't not have the gtx285/295 listed but advises to download the
latest driver and and SmartDoctor. So I downloaded both 182.06 driver from nVidia
and the Asus SmartDoctor and the card is still not recognized.
In the system mangement under the display devices the gtx285 card is recognized.
I'm running xp pro 64 bit SP2
I've since have tried two games and it crashes by going to a black screen and the
graphic card's light goes from green to red.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
