Setup:
2x Athlon XP 1800+ running at 1533MGz w/266MGz FSB (1.7v)
1x 256 ECC Registered Crucial PC2100 @266MGz
Tyan Tiger MP S2460 rev. 1.03 (AMD-762 chip set)
Enermax PSU (330W)
Seagate something 20GB 7200RPM HD
WD 20GB 7200RPM HD
Toshiba 6x DVD
TDK 12x10x32 CDRW
8500LE
SB live
2x3COM 3C90B NIC
WinXP pro SP1 w/all updates/patches
----
FANS:
2x 60MM CPU fans with really big HS (for the life of me I can't remember what brand they are) used with Artic Silver compound
1 60mm intake
1 60mm exhost (located right next to CPU 0)
1 120mm intake (right over both CPU's)
2x 80mm exhost (on PS)
-----------------------
What I'm running into is a complete system lock-up when both CPU's, and/or CPU 1 is running at 100%, but it doesn't lock up if CPU 0 is at 100%.
The issue doesn't seem to exist if CPU 0 is at 100% and CPU 1 is at anything other than 100% (all the way up to 90% range).
I thought it might be a heat issue, since Sandra reported my system running at 170deg F (MB, both CPU's), but I can tutch the HS's on the MB and the CPU's, and feel very little heat (when both cpu's are at 100%), and wrote that off as a MB hardware mon. defect (considering that it reports my fan speeds of 600Million RPM). I thought it also might be streaching the power to the limits, so I removed all fans (except CPU), and optical/HD's that weren't necessary for windows to load (basically I only had the Seagate running), and the issue remained (but I have not eliminated the PS as being the issue). I've tested the ram, and it's fine.
The only things that I can think of that might be causing this are CPU 1, PS, and the MB. The rest has been tested/ripped out ect...
The really odd thing is that it will run both cpu's at 100% for anywhere from 4 sec. to ~6 hours, but mostly it locks up within 30-60 sec. (which leads me to think MB, or PS).
--------
Additional info:
I only found out about this while trying to run SETI (which I can set to use CPU 0, but I would like to use both CPU's )
BIOS needs flashed to the latest rev. (it's on 1.03, and the latest is 1.05), but PS floppy power source is not usable (which I will be fixing soon).
---------
Any info/tips would be helpful, and sorry for the long post.

I think you are cutting it close with the PSU.
Even a quality PSU (like the Enermax) would have a hard time.

If you add up the comsumption of everything you have it comes to approx 346 watts.
(each CPU alone comsumes 80 watts - x2). That is not including the extra current draw
of the ATI card.

Also, don't forget that under powering the PC can cause the onboard sensors to act
flakey and inaccurate (even more so than normal). It will also add to heat build-up.

I also noticed you mentioned the processors as being XP processors. Is that just a typo? XP processors though capable of running in dual setups, are not officialy supported to do so. I would take LiLithTecH's advice first, get a better PSU.

Actually it's sort-of a type and sort-of not. Upon further investigation I found CPU 1 to be the MP variant, and CPU 1 to not register anything other than "Athlon"
But as I assumed, it's more than likely that it is the PSU, just thought I'd try to get some input before I go spend $$

Thanks for they help guys, I very much appreciate it.

re-seat your processors and re-apply thermal paste, also check to make sure both procs are the exact same stepping, although the tyan will run XP's dualed (using the cut bridge trick), they still must be matched pairs. a few folks over at the DC threads run similar setups you might to an OT thread over there for more help.
