Anyone who's ever been pulled over by a cop for something they didn't do will find reason for both fury and comfort in the story of Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Lisa Steed. Steed, a cop celebrated for her diligence, has now been fired amid allegations that she falsified dozens — perhaps hundreds — of DUI arrests. Steed routinely pulled over drivers she claimed were driving drunk or on drugs and arrested them, even if they were found to have no drugs or alcohol in their system, a lawsuit contends. Wow. I've never jumped on the cop bashing bandwagon, but IF THIS IS FOUND TO BE TRUE, then fuck her. That crap ruins peoples lives. Granted, if a DUI ruins your life, and you were actually driving drunk, then you deserve what ya get. Wow. I've never jumped on the cop bashing bandwagon, but IF THIS IS FOUND TO BE TRUE, then fuck her. That crap ruins peoples lives. Granted, if a DUI ruins your life, and you were actually driving drunk, then you deserve what ya get. According the NYtimes linked original article, there are at least 40 people in 2010 that she arrested for DUI that were later proved in court to have zero alcohol or narcotic substances in their system.

I could under stand if it was maybe 1 or 2 a year. Although that is not the best, I can understand an honest mistake. Shit happens. But 40+ at a minimum for a year? And this is possibly the tip of the iceberg? Yah, that is one cop that needs to go down for her criminal actions.

Finally he got tired of looking for a reason and pulled me over for... not signalling the lane change long enough. Are you kidding me? Checked out my papers, ran a scan and let me off with a warning. Was clearly looking for a bigger bust, but found nothing.

Now I am not surprised.

Did you read the article? Even if the charges are eventually dropped, it wouldn't change the fact that many were arrested and had to pay to fight the charges for no reason.

Seems to be a pattern there though. The article only mentioned two cases were it was proved by tests that the drivers were unimpaired, I'm guessing more drivers also did not test positive?

This crap goes on much more than we know. The word is out to all who can write citations to do so, to boost revenues for ailing states/counties/municipalities. Oddly enough, I've been pulled over twice by Utah hiway cops and neither wrote me, though both could have. It's the California sheriffs deputies and CHP that are the worst, in my experience.

Looks like a class action lawsuit against UHP and Steed are in the works. :awe:
Hopefully other states will be audited for such shenanigans in their area.

Umm, because her state allows just a field sobriety test to allow for an arrest. Of which she lied about a lot of them.
