Oh my, yet ANOTHER win for President Trump.

Roberts got the liberal justices to go along with this, presumably with some promise for when they actually hear the case. So either he's prepared to stab them in the back, or Trumpsters are going to be proposing 2nd amendment solutions for the chief justice.

They've had almost 5 months to figure out this vetting thing. Are they stupid? For anyone who has forgotten the vetting process for the refugees (you know the people we know nothing about supposedly) here is a link:

https://obamawhitehouse.archives.go...iles/images/wh_blog_refugee_workflow_1125.jpg

Yeah, I love the Trump administration argument that we need a temporary travel ban on Muslims entering the country until we can "figure out what is going on". But because the courts have struck down the travel ban, we can't even start "figuring out what is going on!" Never mind that we needed only 90 days to "figure out whats going on"..

The strategy of giving up on the travel ban, and just "figuring out what is going on" so they can start the process of stopping bad hombres from coming here doesn't seem to have occurred to them. Almost as if, somehow, the important point was banning muslims from the country and "figuring out what was going on" was a distant second.

The important point in all this was for Trump to "SAY OUT LOUD" to his loyal supporters that he was going to ban all Muslims from entering the country and kick the bad ones out. Doing it? Who cares? He just wanted to get a check mark next to his campaign promise. If courts stop him, that's on THEM. He did his best, but he was blocked at every turn! Sad. Move on.

The high court's action Monday means parts of the order Trump re-issued in March will go into effect until the justices decide on the legality of the measure. The court's order after nearly five months of legal uncertainty lets Trump's directive go forward with significant limitations in place.

As for those claiming "victory"...I would assume they reject Trump's position that his second "travel ban" EO was a craven and misjudged "politically correct" compromise? Trump has said on Twitter earlier the decision to reformulate the order was a mistake.

“The Justice Dept. should have stayed with the original Travel Ban, not the watered down, politically correct version they submitted to S.C.,”

Oh my, yet ANOTHER win for President Trump.

You guys have had to define a 'win' down so far now that simply not having the entirety of his orders blocked has to count, lol.

It's hard to think of a president who has been a bigger loser through their first term than Trump has been. Despite large majorities in Congress he's just too shitty at the job to get anything done.

Eh, I wouldn't call the Senate majority a large majority.

There's been NO DECISION,, the only decision made was to hear the case and allow for a watered down temp ban until they hear the case.

Sure there was a decision. There was a decision made to allow most of his ban to be reinstated immediately until they hear the case in the Fall...if they hear the case. Since it's a 90 day EO, they are essentially letting it go forward. The decision of the lower courts was totalling different. They refused to let any of it go forward. That's a big difference.

Seems pretty partisan when conservatives will applaud anything that can be interpreted as a victory for the klan.

This is a victory for the Constitution and the rule of law. Your take on this is awfully extreme. Do you really think all 9 justices support the Klan?

That's fair, although the Senate hasn't been what's held him up. The primary obstacle seems to be his own incompetence. He really appears to have no idea what he's doing or maybe even any idea of what he's supposed to do. I frankly think the job is just too difficult for him.

Trump has instinct but not much intelligence. Throw more than one ball for him to juggle and he's done. He was born to be wealthy not because of his intelligence but by his family influence and money. All he had to do was be ruthless, unprincipled, and driven by ego and greed. In those he excels.

I mean real estate development is complicated but that's the only really complex work he has done that I'm aware of he seems to have been a failure at that as well.

He seems to be good at one thing: self promotion. Everything else he's tried he's failed at.

Development is complicated and I suspect it has failed when he has been most involved.

What's the difference between the wealthy and the rich? The wealthy pay the rich go make them wealthier. Trump isn't rich.

How do you arrive at "most"? What does that mean, other than you showing the "I'm with Trump" flag?

Because acknowledging reality, and that only a fraction of the ban was allowed to go on, would shatter some feeble little minds around here. And yes, it was only a fraction of the ban allowed. Anyone with a connection to the US is still able to enter.

The Trumpkins declaring victories for Trump in the 1st inning of the ballgame perfectly delineates not just the sad lower standard of competence he's held to, but the soft bigotry of low expectations he has now instilled in many of his flying monkeys. Never before have we seen such an amateurish loser occupy the WH, and despite all the daily fail, his supposedly "principled" conservative minions cheer it on. It might even be shocking, if it weren't so predictable.

Are you talking about the Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent? I'm not an expert, but in reading their opinions it looked to me like they wanted to remove all injunctions against the travel ban. That is, give Trump exactly what he wanted.

In related news, Gorsuch seems really awful. Does the man ever side with 'little guy' in a case? Ever?
The purpose of a judge is to SIDE WITH THE FUCKING LAW.

I'm all for the travel ban but I suspect you are spot-on. Were Trump truly interested in developing better vetting procedures - and let's be honest, for Somalia and Syria there can be no procedure beyond asking the "refugee" is they are terrorists and checking against known databases because there are no extant governments, let alone trustworthy governments - then he had ample time to demonstrate progress in doing so. Such progress would have helped immensely in the court of public opinion, raising the bar for opposition and proving the worth of the temporary travel ban. I've seen absolutely zero such progress, even though the time passed is more than originally requested. That strongly suggests that the purpose of the temporary travel ban was to have a temporary travel ban.

LOL, it has to suck that every single Supreme Court Justice rejected every lower court that blocked the whole thing, huh? Continue crying

Your break from reality is absolutely adorable. Still continue denying that all nine Justices repudiated every lower court that blocked the entire law
