Sadly, the Trump's have proven themselves such liars and bad actors that you can't believe a word they are saying either, so no one knows wtf happened. Same dynamic as Trump's G20 meeting with Putin. Lies and misdirection everywhere.

This is what I'm really interested in/worried about. It seems like if indictments and/or convictions are likely Trump will simply mass pardon all of his people. At that point you have a real constitutional crisis on your hands as you have what amounts to an unindictable criminal conspiracy in charge of the country.

Ten years ago I would have had no doubt that even a GOP controlled congress would view that as so far beyond what is acceptable that they would remove him from office. I hope that's still the case.

The President "shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment"

and
