To be clear, Trump Jr. initially lied about the meeting, saying it never happened. When informed that there was evidence it happened he lied again and said it was about 'adoptions', conveniently leaving out the fact that they also met for him to try and get dirt on Clinton. Then when informed there was evidence he was trying to get dirt on Clinton he said it didn't matter anyway.
He's lying an awful lot about a meeting that he says was totally meaningless. I wonder why?

Looks to me like a typical wartime strategic retreat operation being deployed, where continuous delaying actions of every sort are being mounted at the front lines whilst the main body is also continually regrouping further back from the action and preparing new lines of defense in reaction to unfolding circumstances at the front.
Eventually though, if an effective counterattack can't be mounted, the Trump clan is going to run out of territory to give up and will be forced to talk terms of surrender. Hopefully, the terms will be unconditional and brutally punitive for the clan that would consort with the enemy in order to grasp power and loot the very nation that the Trump clan purports to "lead".

The bigger question is why didn't the Trump camp have a trusted Republican 3rd party do the meet? Personally I think it's because the Reps really don't want to support Trump any more than not having Billary elected (and a lot of them are in the Billary camp anyways due to richie rich ownership sharing with her). It's not that campaigns haven't done that in the past with other American citizens. It's that doing so with a hostile foreign nation amounts to treason...and then to lie about it after the fact is also a crime.
