PS. As far as Trump 2024, well lets just say that if Donald Trump were a stock in the stock exchange, and one owned that stock, one might want to sell now while that stock still holds any value. I certainly would sell. If one were betting on a Trump 2024 vs betting that VHS tapes will return, the VHS tapes would be the better bet to go with.

I think trump will definitely run in 2024, baring any legal problems, and if the Dems don’t have a viable choice, we’ll have another four years of trump.

Democrats had a plethora of good choices on 2020, to the point that Republicans were convinced that the Democrats would lose because 'they can't get behind one candidate'.

I was contemplating that call Milley had with the Chinese top brass, mediating, calming, talking down a non zero nuclear end of days probability.
So Trump 2024.
I just cant help but imagine that the Chinese has cooked up all the Perl Harbors available to them and I just cant help to contemplate what their threshold is. Cause lets face it, China is gonna need one massive first strike to stay in the game.
Wonder about that threshold indeed.

Without General Milley, we might very well be glowing in the dark... At least the non-vaporized people would be glowing.

If Twump "wins" in 24, I'm going to be seriously investigating moving permanently from US soil. I figure a lot of people are doing that now, but it would be a big time thing should that transpire. I mean the US is toast if that catastrophe is elected again.

He's so goddamned damaged at this point. The women hate him, the blacks hate him, the wonder is gone, people are bored with his schtick, he thrust his base on the Capitol building with deadly results in his in denial tantrum at losing his reelection bid, he's twice impeached, he's smeared shit all over the idea of American democracy and continues to do so. He's a very bad dream. I don't see how he has a chance.

So, lets spitball this, should the nukes start flying, what would be the safest, still habitable (ie. NOT north pole) geolocation? Where would you go? Iceland? Ibiza?
Should probably learn to sail a boat.

If there's all out nuclear war with those thousands of warheads, you'd be better off dead than trying to survive. The fallout would get you. Everywhere.

Edit: That's just my knee jerk reaction...

Disclosure: I'm at ground zero and would be dead instantly, basically.

Yeah, if I got notification missiles were coming, I'd drive to the local Air Force Base. I'd prefer to just be vaporized.

Much rather live as close to ground zero, than anywhere else. Have my whole life.

He has a chance because:

Biden and Dems in general are floundering.

GOP tactics and ability for many sympathetic state legislatures to simply overturn the election results anyway.

That's something of an illusion. How things will play out is uncertain, but uncertainty can be good, it means that our course is NOT determined. That means we can create real meaningful change.

I don't believe that the actions of state legislatures will undermine the most fundamental aspect of American political philosophy - free and fair elections. We have the courts to insure that.

Like I say, a Twump win in 2024 would spell the stinking death, the rotting corpse of America. We shall see.

Man, I don't really see where a lot of you are coming from. I hope you are right. Even that creep Desantis is better than Trump, especially a Trump out for revenge and not caring about reelection.

The only things that could stop Trump:
-- age finally catches up to him, he's no spring chicken but the dude does have a lot of spiteful energy
-- an Obama-level candidate (not president, candidate) runs for the Democrats.

This country is full of spiteful ignorant morons, if Covid hasn't shown that enough. Even fucking minorities voted more for Trump in 2020, which to me is like roaches voting for Raid. Or a vikings fan (me) wanting the packers to win. Does not compute.

I think having an old dude who frankly I hoped would not win (Biden) not running again in 2024 means the incumbent advantage is gone, and it becomes a disadvantage.

Caveat: if the economy does end up booming in 2024, then that likely means any GOP candidate loses.

another veep contestant throws his hat into the ring:

A Marine lieutenant colonel who publicly criticized the Biden administration for last month’s chaotic evacuation of American and allied troops and civilians from Afghanistan is now in a military brig for violating a gag order last weekend, his parents said in a short statement.

Not understanding what you're saying here. What becomes a disadvantage?

It really looked like Biden's chances had evaporated in the first few primaries. It was the South Carolina primary, one week before Super Tuesday when people went, whoa, maybe he has a chance after all. Myself, I had an idea Biden could emerge as the Democrat's man way before people were even throwing their hat into the ring. My niece's husband and son told me frankly around 2018 that Biden was the only Democrat who could beat Trump. I was OMG, really? I didn't contradict them. They are formidable people. I never forgot what they said, and by golly, they may have been totally right. I watched the Democratic candidates debates (the ones I could see on OTA TV) and was impressed by most of them. Not so much by Joe. But the speech Joe made extemporaneously in Los Angeles the night of Super Tuesday convinced me he has his marbles, that he's formidable. And TBH, what I cared about was beating Twump, period.

If Twump is the GQP man in 2024, the Democrats are going to galvanize, coalesce, similar to 2020 to whack his ass good. That guy has enough baggage to stretch around the world several times. I mean, where do you start in criticizing him? He's just a shit show gala.

Lol he wasn't the only guardrail. The generals in charge of a nuke have ultimately the final say before pushing the red button. One went on the record very early in the orange monkey's term, he'd ignore the order to launch if he felt order was wrong

Damn man. How many righteous men was between the pres and actual rockets launching? Point being, even if you’re looking at 0.1% chance Trump could pull that off… You have any idea how big a number 0.1% is? I dont think its a loling matter. At all. We need to get nukes off the planet its obvious we cant be trusted with them(human kind).

With the election of a guy like Trump to the presidency and the alarming spectacularly self-incriminating antics he pulled off that proved he couldn't be trusted with having the nation's nuke arsenal at his disposal along with over 70+ million Americans believing he, after all the damage he had done to the nation's prestige and the damage he had done to the security of the nation, decided he was worth reelecting, it wouldn't surprise me at all if laws are written to ensure that if Trump is reelected, there will be additional safeguards in place to prevent him and his supporters from using nukes abroad and right here at home to keep him in power.

edit - You all know without doubt that things will get much worse for the world if he ever gets back in office. The only people that will be ecstatic about his regaining his dictatorship status are our enemies, including the ones right here the USA who wish to dismantle our democratic way of life.
