Or you can take the Tom Cotton approach and tell those patriot farmers that this is their sacrifice to burden since they aren't overseas and risking their lives.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tom-co...s-minimal-compared-to-those-serving-overseas/

This fucking guy.....

I hope someone fedex's him a couple thousand pounds worth of bull shit.

"As the U.S. and China inch closer to an all-out trade war, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton says that the sacrifice Americans will pay for President Trump's tariffs are "minimal" compared to those serving overseas. President Trump has maintained that Americans would not be fronting the brunt of the cost for tariffs, but many, including the president's own economic adviser, say they will.

"There will be some sacrifices on the part of Americans, I grant you that, but I also would say that sacrifice is pretty minimal compared to the sacrifices that our soldiers make overseas that are fallen heroes that are laid to rest in Arlington make," Cotton told "CBS This Morning" when asked about the impact of tariffs on farmers in his own state of Arkansas.

Cotton, the author of "Sacred Duty: A Soldier's Tour at Arlington National Cemetery," said that in the long term, the goal is to make sure that the U.S. "remains preeminent as a global super power both in the economic and the security" worlds.

The price tag for that "preeminence" on the average American family, according to trade experts falls between $700 to $1,000.

"If we remain the world's largest economy and the world's largest economic super power in the short term, I say it is worth that cost," said Cotton. "

I guess that's what you call Republican logic not? In some other dimension, I guess it makes perfect sense.

More on the Kudlow-Trump affair:

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-s...te-house#break

This is what happens when you correct the president's misconceptions/blatant lies. That's the catch-22 of the Trump administration. Competent people keep screwing up by telling the truth instead of repeating Trump's lies, but replacing them with incompetents only puts screw-ups in their place.

So it's sort of the Bizarro Peter Principle: Incompetent employees will continue to be promoted within the administration, but at some point they will be promoted into positions for which their incompetence can provide maximum usefulness for their worthless boss. Perhaps we could call it the Covfefe Principle.

This is why no one who wants to have a future career should work for Trump. He not only engages in these ridiculous lies, he requires that you lie for him, thus destroying your reputation.

This needs to be called out in a press conference with the cheeto. Tell him that what Kudrow said in that interview is true.
Tell him that tariffs are not paid by the Chinese. They don't write us a check.
The company importing the Chinese products, is paying/writing that check
to the Treasury and that company is the one who charges more, for the consumers.

His stupidity here on tariffs, needs to be put on public display so it can be played over and over on the news.
Just like when he claimed "he would be proud to shut the gov't down" back in Dec. That particular optic backfired
and he had to eat crow because he had no support.
This douchebag in charge is effing, bag of hammers, stupid

The model Trump seems to prefer is a dynamic in which his team not only accepts his falsehoods as facts but is also willing to peddle his fictions to the public without regard for their accuracy. Trump sees that a large portion of the public is willing to believe anything he tells them. So he probably figures why waste the truth on these people when they'll settle for lies. And then he gets annoyed when other people in his administration don't see this and aren't willing to tell lies like he does.

The impression is that all of his statements are sales pitches. Sales pitches from a guy who's selling time shares.

News today is that Wal-Mart will be raising prices in response to Trump’s tariffs. What was that about China paying?

But it's ok because only "the poors" shop at Wal-Mart so nobody the unindicted co-conspirator knows will be affected.

Word circulating that US/Mexico/Canada are near some deal for the US to remove steel and aluminum tariffs.

This is effectively a cave by the administration but a required one since there was little appetite in Canada or in much of Congress (even among republicans) to pass the new deal while these were still in effect. Trump thought he could have his cake and eat it too.

Hopefully he signs the wrong spot again.

I heard in recent news commentary that if the Republicans keep control of the White House in the Nov 2020 election then a trade deal with China will be reached within weeks. The logic being that he won't have to worry about another presidential election (in 2024) because he'll be a lame duck. So there's no incentive for him to act tough by using tariffs and he'll find some compromise within weeks.

On the flip side of that I wonder and worry that if he gets re-elected in '20 he'll keep the tariffs to try to gain conservative public support for whatever Repub runs in 2024. But I'm guessing he's probably not that committed to such idealism. Both theories came from news talking heads so I'm not predicting either one at this point

I doubt Trump actually cares who wins in 2024, assuming he can get his pardon. I would watch much more closely how, where, and what he puts tariffs on affects his personal business and stock portfolio.

So tell me who pays first....

Mexico pays for the wall?
Or Gyna pays for the 16 billion farmer bailout?

There's still a LOT of money to be made playing this game. King Donnie's handlers will let him know when it's time to end the tariffs.
