Trump arrived in Vietnam today to meet with Un, who, so far, seems receptive to talks about disarmiment, This is historic IMHO, and could lead to a nuclear-free Korean penninsula. The good thing, Un has not fired fired rockets in 15 months, so maybe he's actually open to talks? Even Bernie praised the talks:

I sometimes wonder if a guarantee of a disarmed peninsula (over time, with checks in place), financial aid and a written promise to not topple their leadership in exchange for North Korea starting a path to democracy will ever work. Even limited democracy. The key sticking point is that NK's leaders know that currently their choices are to hold power or be torn apart by a mob. Maybe guarantees of post-power security could somehow fix that...

So the Trump message is that if you actually develop nuclear weapons we'll give you a deal to get rid of them but if you forswear doing so you get the high hard one, like Iran.

I think if we offered a nice estate in the United Kingdom to the NK leadership and a monthly stipend in exchange for them getting on a flight out of there we might have something.

I guess they could go the Vietnam path, couldn't they - slowly capitalize their economy but keep the autocrats up top? It hasn't exactly turned Vietnam into the marvels that are Japan and South Korea but it's better than today.

No... his title and name is "Chairman Kim". It's entirely understandable for you to not know that; less so for the Secretary of State of the United States who is on a diplomatic mission to meet said Chairman Kim.

It speaks to a general level of ignorance - like, has the guy never had a State briefing on protocol, or even just read an article about the man - that is entirely expected from this bottom-of-the-barrel administration.

Temporary delay/stopping of testing missiles. Now, it might just be because they ran out of missiles, or, maybe they are building up stockpiles, but, the fact that they haven't fired any off in recent times could be considered good news.
