For Trump's minor life discrepancies (as I call them) that doesn't mean he's a bad commander in chief. So far he's doing a good job. I wish things would hurry along, but Congress is stalling. Now I'm not going to say Trump is the most perfect person or President ever, but he's got Obama beat IMO. I still think Reagan was one of the best Presidents this country has ever had next to Washington. But even Reagan had his faults. Believe me, I know. I've read part of Bill O'reilly's book Killing Reagan.
Doing a good job, how?
His tentpole Muslim ban has been ruled unconstitutional and will likely be defeated in the Supreme Court.
- The AHCA is getting terrible ratings from government overseers, and it threatens to cost the seats of numerous moderate Republicans in 2018 if it passes.
- He managed to trigger an obstruction of justice investigation purely through his own folly (namely, his paranoia and inability to keep his fool mouth shut). If he wasn't directly under threat of criminal charges before, he is now.
- The cost of the border wall is rapidly ballooning well past Trump's wildly optimistic estimates. It might never get built in earnest at this rate.
- Trump and his administration tell easily disproven lies so often that you can generally assume that whatever they're saying isn't true. This includes lies about climate science -- thankfully, the move to clean energy is so far along that Trump's attempt to prop up fossil fuels is already certain to fail.
- This is the most corrupt administration in American history, with numerous violations (the emolument clause, for example), obvious lobbyist influence (like EPA chief Scott Pruitt, or FCC chairman Ajit Pai) and rampant nepotism.
In short: Trump is unlikely to fulfill some of his core promises, and what little he does fulfill is likely to hurt his party's chances at reelection. And this is the first President I know of that invited legal trouble simply because he has a chronic inability to stay quiet.
