The case fatality rate is probably a lot less than that 2.14%. But I presume we won't know what it is (was) till long after this is over, when maybe we can test loads of people for antibodies and work out how many people had it, and also look at the excess death rates and work out how many more people died than normally would.
I'm inclined to guess that the rate is about 1%. But given how contagious it is almost everyone will eventually get it, so that's a lot of deaths. But those are just wild guesses on my part.

Back in November the hospitals were really busy, and full of people who were sick, with people needing ventilators with Flu symptoms, and tested negative for the Flu. Now they are so slow, and nurses are now on furlough because everything else is shut down.
Either way the real numbers will eventually come out, and hope this happens before this country turns into a worse shit hole with what we will be dealing with from this fallout now.

The point is really that even if 60% of people do not show symptoms this is a major issue and will cause a staggering number of deaths if we do not keep working to minimize contact everywhere.

This happens every fall/winter. There are other viruses - RSV, adenovirus, echovirus, coxsackievirus, rhinovirus, etc - that all cause flu symptoms. What do you think the real numbers are? Are you implying you don't believe the lab tests? If not, what WOULD you believe? Your gut?
