Trump campaign illegally coordinated with NRA

Under federal law, it is illegal for a campaign to coordinate with outside entities. There is strong documentary evidence described, and even shown, in this article, that the Trump campaign illegally coordinated its ad buys and messaging directly with the NRA during the campaign.

https://www.thetrace.org/2018/12/trump-nra-campaign-coordination/

Reporting by The Trace shows that the NRA and the Trump campaign employed the same operation — at times, the exact same people — to craft and execute their advertising strategies for the 2016 presidential election. The investigation, which involved a review of more than 1,000 pages of Federal Communications Commission and Federal Election Commission documents, found multiple instances in which National Media, through its affiliates Red Eagle and AMAG, executed ad buys for Trump and the NRA that seemed coordinated to enhance each other.

Looks like we can add this to the list of felony violations of election law which occurred during the campaign.

Electioning is hard, who knew?

In before usual apologists come in to claim how Trump's the real victim.

So the NRA spent $30 million to elect Trump. That's approximately 3 times more than what the NRA spent on Romney in 2012.

How much of that was from Russia? I fail to see how gun ownership in America is important to the Russian elite.

Do you really think the NRA political goals have anything to do with gun ownership?

I once belonged to the NRA but I told them quite some time ago not to call me anymore. Once they went the way they didn then nope, on your own

Russia wants to sow discourse, bottom line.
^ This (assuming as I am that was supposed to be "discord".)

If you can't divide and conquer, exactly, at least you can divide and fuck around while everyone else is too busy arguing about bullshit amongst themselves to think about, much less do anything about, you...

Hard to keep up with these instances of malfeasance the Trump clan and friends have been piling up on their rap sheets.

Even harder waiting around for Mueller to drop the hammer on the Trumps because we all know it's coming.

And then there's the multitude of investigations the Dem controlled House will have to plod its way through in order to make things right, in order to have the Trump train come to a screeching halt and have it's rogue's gallery of miscreant passengers march through the justice system one by one to get their just due.

This is going to take awhile but it needs to be done. My only wish was that there was some kind of law that McConnell and Ryan could be charged with for enabling and abetting Trump's negligent trampling of the rule of law.

The evidence for this looks to be solid to irrefutable. I would expect this to be picked up by CNN and the rest of the MSM by tomorrow.

They can add this one in to their Articles of Impeachment.

It's a good bet that Mueller is looking into the related issue of whether any of the money the NRA spent, and I think they actually spent close to $70 million total to help all GOP that year, came from Russia.

Looked into this and the penalty is usually a fine, if anything at all. Bah, why do we not enforce these election laws? The reason you can't coordinate with outside entities is because that is the equivalent of receiving a contribution and we have limits on those, also for good reasons.

They should still throw this into the Articles of Impeachment. People need to understand the extent of Trump's criminality. He just thinks the rules do not apply to him.

The NRA leadership succumbed to greed a long time ago. And they haven't been shy about crazifying people to sell more guns, either. Wayne LaPierre makes $1M+/yr fear mongering lies & disinformation. They monetize conspiracy theory to sell a product.

Remember in August when the NRA said they were broke and on the verge of financial collapse in court filings against the state of New York? Good times. $30M could have gone a long way.

Their investment in Trump hasn't paid off the way they thought, apparently.

It's all a damned shame, too, because the NRA once was a patriotic organization before they turned into anti-gubmint looney tunes.

I feel like the nra was so emboldened by the orange clowns ascension that they over-stepped their bounds. After Vegas and especially Parkland massacres their responses were embarrassing and off-putting to anyone with any sense. Parading that bitch spokeswoman out at the republican convention (or whatever it was called) to allude to crisis actors and fake liberal tears was shameful.

They've been moving that way long before Trump as president was even a blip on the radar. Irrational fear sells more guns & they're expert at putting it out there.

Why else would the Russians back them if not to perpetuate their efforts?

Of course. I should've said ridiculously over-emboldened. It was funny though watching trumpo openly accuse others of being afraid of the nra in that studio WH meeting. Another moment i never thought I'd see.

At this point the only thing Trump hasn't done is shoot someone in Times Square.

It's a mutual admiration society among fear mongers, a dovetail fit. Trump scares 'em into buying more guns & the NRA scares 'em into voting for Trump who'll deny the evil gun grabbers what they want.

The only GOP politicians not afraid of the NRA are the ones who toe the line willingly or who are willing to fight primary challenges from the right. The latter basically don't exist.
