Michael and I seem to be of the same mind.

This is exceptionally stupid, I agree. Trump should be doing everything possible to keep his co-conspirators happy.

The only reason to not do this is if you think you are completely fucked legally and so nothing about the various cases matters. This may very well be the case, actually. Like if you're going to lose no matter what why do you care about Giuliani's additional testimony against you?

And the other problem is Guiliani himself. Reliable witness?

I would bet that the grift is starting to dry up (ie, donations he is diverting to legal fees). If that's the case then Trump will have to pay for his current campaign out of his own pocket-not to mention him paying for attorney fees for his co-defendants. Him doing so would violate the very core of his essence.

Let the sh*tshow begin.

Shitlol!

Michael Cohen threw Trump under the bus, didn't he…?

Who did the time?!

Cohen did time, but you can also argue that Cohen has provided dirt that has furthered investigations into Trump. If you're doing shady stuff, you really don't want anyone squealing on you. Sooner or later, someone is going to have that one piece of information that takes you down.

He's still getting donations, I read comments on YT videos and I know there are a ton of bored people trolling. But I see far too many "This whole thing's bullshit, I just donated my last $20 to help him" or "I sent Trump half my check" Like a shocking number, and knowing how MAGA people are, I bet a decent amount of these people are real. And are sending him their last $20.

Imagine a person who literally only has $20 to their name sending it to "help" a billionaire. That's beyond comprehension. *I don't need gas this week, or food really. I need to help Trump* And the 3 "I sent half my check in support" I saw, maybe I'm wrong here, but I just don't see them being the type who has half their check to just give away lol. And it's made even worse by the stories of him not paying his lawyers. So I want to know what the fuck he's doing with all the donations. There are a ton of MAGAtards out there so I bet the donations are still adding up to a bunch of cash, even if it's dropped a lot. I'm sure the monthly total would leave me stumped for a few days.

Seems he has emails, not text (sms) however I feel this should have been dug into far, far more than it was. Shit that was asked for by Congress “accidentally” got deleted. That’s either concealing something or criminally negligent.

WOAH! Hopefully members of the USSC will be prosecuted as well. The cover story of accidental deletion before a software is bogus. Being in this business, one of the first tasks before a major upgrade is doing a backup of the data.

Looks like a trial date is set.

Who picked a date that sounds like "march forth"?

I'm lost on the removal thing. I thought their whole point was to get it out of then State's realm and into Federal court so it WOULD be eligible for Pardons. People here seem to say otherwise.

It would still be a state trial. The benefit to the defense would be the delay, and the jury pool would increase to the Northern GA district. Which is MTG's neck of the woods.

I think moving to federal court is more about immunity. If they're determined to be federal officials acting in their official capacity then they're immune from prosecution. The state Court won't entertain that argument but federal court will.

how is this not open and shut?
The all-day hearing on former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows’ request to move the Georgia election interference case to federal court in Atlanta has concluded.

US District Judge Steve Jones did not rule from the bench on Monday. He acknowledged that arraignments in the criminal case were scheduled for September 6, and said he would rule as quickly as possible.

Meadows’ attorney said “we are entitled to a prompt determination” of whether his state criminal charges will be moved to federal court.

As the hearing drew to a close, one of the judge’s final questions was whether Meadows had any federal authorities that Trump didn’t have as president. District Attorney Fani Willis’ office said no, but Meadows team said yes, arguing that the chief of staff has a “wide range of authority.”

The breadth of his federal authority is key to determining whether the case will stay in state court.
interesting that meadows is arguing he has power the president does not. since the president is...well, the president of the executive branch. the commander in chief, if you will.

Congress will often grant authorities to cabinet secretaries that it doesn't directly bestow on a President. To my knowledge, there is a not a single authority granted by Congress to the Chief of Staff.

MM contacted Georgia concerning Trump's re-election. The campaign is not an official duty of the White House.

The reason Meadows wants this tried in Federal court is the jury pool. He wants a whiter jury so he can count on a hung result. Federal would allow a selection outside exclusively Fulton County.

I mean, he just spent the day testifying about how it was part of his job because he had no autonomy and had to do what he was told, but that's cool.

I'm not saying that I disagree with your take that overturning an election isn't part of the job description. I am saying I disagree that moving the trial so they can get it thrown out due to immunity isn't their primary reason since Meadows has said as much in court.

The only problem with that is Trump hasn't tried to have his case moved to federal court.

Right, I misspoke. You can bet Trump will be watching and if successful he will follow suit. He may try anyway just to delay.
